Windows 8 BSOD System Service Exception

I bought a brand-new laptop a few days ago and I have already had the BSOD many many times with the error System Service Exception. It is so annoying. My laptop is brand-new and I haven't installed new programs yet, and the problem appears when I use Internet. Also, I am using wi-fi in my house, and when I log on the computer again, the network on this laptop will also be interrupted, and I have to do a network repair every time this BSOD happens.

I have done some search on this forum and I tried some of the advices here such as running chkdsk etc, and the problem didn't go away. Now I am running my computer on a clean boot to see how it goes. Meanwhile I really hope Microsoft do something to clean up this issue.

Totally agree Laura, I bought mine in Dec or Jan and been having this issue for just over a month, and it was/is happening with both browsers I have, the IE that it came with and with Google Chrome which I installed after the problem started with IE.  Microsoft needs to fix this issue.

This happened to me almost immediately after Windows automatically updated and installed MANY new updates to my 3 day old computer. I ended up doing a system restore, back to the day before the automatic updates, and then I set my computer to ONLY alert me to updates and let me choose what and when to install if any.

It does not have anything to do with Norton, which I uninstalled the first chance I got.

I'm not saying this is a fix, but it hasn't happened again since I did the restore and reset the updates.

There is a microcode update for Windows 8 computers that use AMD processors that may help with the error:

So make sure that update, if applicable to your system, is installed

I started getting the Service Exception Error BSOD a month ago. I only noticed it happen while I was browsing the web. Happened with firefox, IE, and Chrome. Some people had suggested it might be firefox but I had it happen on the other browsers as well. I am aware Firefox 19 is having issues right now and is constantly crashing for a lot of people but that never prompts the BSOD or Service Exception Error message. It happened to me so often that I restored my computer. Didn't have it happen again for a whole week. Then yesterday when I was shutting down my Windows 8 PC it only gave me the options to "Update and restart" or "Update and Shut Down". I didn't think much of it so I just let it update. Then today when I started using it I had the dreaded System Service Exception BSOD happen again. It seems one of Windows 8 updates is likely what triggers the problem but how do we get rid of it? Or can Microsoft just figure it out themselves since so many people are experiencing this PC breaking error and then perhaps patch it with another update?
