Can I undo a refresh on windows 8, I have no restore points but would like to go back 24hours?

I've recently got a new computer with Windows 8, I was having trouble with it and decided to refresh to clean up all the bits and pieces I'd added to start again.  The windows office package  was installed recently by partner before he went away as he bought two licences and it has now gone.

Can I undo the refresh in any way?  I have tried and tried but it seems there were no restore points.  Very grateful for any advice as have just managed to get some work for first time this year and need word, excel etc.

@Shawn yes make the users wrong for not understanding Windows 8's arcane messages.  Microsoft can do no wrong (sarcasm.)

For the record Windows 8 is worse than both Vista and ME.

No restore points = no going back. I don't think that you can go back anyway, certainly there is no easy way.

Your other stuff will have to be re-installed..

If you are going to need Refresh in the future, make a CUSTOM Refresh image that better reflects what is installed and running. The new image is not perfect but better than the default Refresh..

    I don,t know what your reading but My refresh Clearly states the following.

    1)Your files and personalization setting will not be changed

    1. Your PC settings will all be returned to their defaults
    2. Apps from the Windows Store will be kept
    3. Apps you Installed from discs or websites will be removed
    4. A folder with all removed Apps listed will be placed on your desktop

    Again if I was trying something new I would make sure what it does and doesn't do. In this case if you read the screens they tell you exactly what will be reinstalled and what will not. It is up to you to read and understand what they say. Refresh did what it was supposed to do.   We may not like everything about Windows 8.0/8.1 update 1 but we are not forced to use it either. Windows 7 machines and Windows 7 alone are still readily available even if not in "Box Stores".

    Lets see, I read 'Refresh your PC without affecting your files'.

    So, as I see it 'Refresh' did not do what it was supposed do.

    It did remove files.

    And what info was presented, 'did not' indicate the severity of what Win 8.1 was going to do.

    And no, the screens 'did not tell exactly' what would be reinstalled, or not.

    Win 8.1 is for hand held devices , not serious users.
