Agree 100% with this post. Samsung products are ****. They may well be the best selling Android phones on the market, but that is just marketing.

I personally use Sony Xperia Z, a superior phone in every conceivable way. Never had any problem with it. The PC Companion software works on my Win 8.1 machine like a charm and their updates to the OS are spot on. It's an older telephone now, Z1 and Z2 have been released but they don't give up on their support for older telephones.

I uninstalled the Samsung Kies software the other day and am now getting the MAStartupCleaner.exe message on reboot. I only installed it on my machine because at the time my girlfriend was using a Samsung phone. She now has a Sony Xperia Z2 and doesn't know how she put up with Samsung for so long.

I'm using windows 7x64, but had similar grief with this MASetupCleaner.exe. Damn thing (KIES) never managed to connect to my phone, just kept annoying me with messages about updates. So last week I uninistalled it, today when I booted up I get this masetupcleaner.exe message. Well I've never heard of "make any" software so I denied it.

Final solution ? Start regedit, search for masetupcleaner. Press delete. Then OK in the message box. Rinse and repeat as necessary. And ... it's gone :).

I had an hour with Samsung on the phone today. The guy did a remote conection to my PC and helped me get my files off the phone and into my PC through the correct usb driver: I have it but cannot send it to you on here. I got it through Driver Genious Professional installed wich I also wish I could give you.

The best bet is book a phonecall from them on the help page and do the same as me. If you haven't got the USB driver he'll help you get it.

They are posting me a USB key with software in it so that I can sync my phone with the PC.

I complained about KIES and it leaving behind the MASetupCleaner.EXE and he said he's never heard of it. I explained the process etc and I'm a retired IT engineer and he put me on hold for 10mins of music and then came back with the software on the key idea.

If it's found in the wow64 folder then delete it and then run 'regedit' as an administer and look in HC Local machine for the software link. Find the WOW64 folder at the bottom and delete all of MASetupCleaner.EXE. Do the same on 'HC Current user'.

restart your machine and it should be gone.

PS. Look in program files and even though you have uninstalled KIES you will find the program is still there. I can remember if it was just program files or program files86 so check them both. Just delete it.

C:\windows\program files (or 86) if you have a 64bit system you will see the 2.

Another good idea gone awry-I downloaded Kies yesterday for my new Galaxy note 2 on my win7 and every time I started up my computer, I had pc issues-no firewall, etc. So I open my McAfee which says IT IS running and all is well, but I still ran a scan anyway because it kept showing up as a pc alert.  Kies couldn't recognize my Note 2, kept calling it an unidentified iphone, wouldn't sync, and this morning I had same issues.  I also had a message that McAfee wanted to block GoogleChrome.  I checked in McAfee and it is an allowed program. So I decided to uninstall Kies, reboot, and I got same as above, MAsetupCleaner.exe wants to make changes. What a mess-I'm bummed!  :(
