Same problem with same three updates on XP 32-bit. I'm just going to hide them.
Updates trying to install over and over again (KB2760411, KB2760588, and KB2760583)
These three updates are trying to be reinstalled over and over again. Replicable on both PCs
- KB2760411
- KB2760588
- KB2760583
The updates are trying to be install over and over again. Every time I click "check for updates," there it appears again.

Update 1: I have tried restarting the PC. Nothing. I have also tried FixIt when trying to troubleshoot Windows Update errors. Still nothing. The FixIt simply "runs" till the end and then says "finish." It did not offer to fix anything.
Windows 7 X64 SP1 with Norton Internet Security 2013 (version 20).
Update: I found other users having the same problem http://www.computerbase.de/forum/showthread.php?t=1252121 (in Dutch I presume). Translated page: http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.computerbase.de%2Fforum%2Fshowthread.php%3Ft%3D1252121&act=url
Update 2: Added media coverage of the issue.
Update 3: Add even more threads found via Google.
Update 4: Microsoft has now offered a statement regarding this bug:
“We’ve received reports of some customers experiencing issues when deploying some of September’s Office-related updates. We are investigating this issue and will act accordingly, to help ensure that our customers are protected." -- Dustin Childs, group manager, Microsoft Trustworthy Computing
Microsoft has acknowledge this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2760583/en-us
Known issues with this security update
- You may be repeatedly offered this update even though it is already installed. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.
Update 5: I did not have to do anything on my part (like re-install updates), so it's probably a detection issue on Microsoft's part.

2013-09-11T00:43:37+00:00 Also having the same issue with KB2760411, KB2760588 and KB2760583 apparently installing and then being offered the same installations again. I am running Windows 7 and Office 2007. The updates are:
KB2760411 - Security update for Microsoft Office 2007 Suites
KB2760588 - Security update for Microsoft Office 2007 Suites
KB2760583 - Security update for Microsoft Excel 2007
I was having a similar problem with 2 updates for a long time last year - probably about 6 months, before I came to this forum and found the following thread to resolve it. Don't know if the issue is similar this time around but that one was related to a conflict between Microsoft .NET version 3.5.1 and version 4.

2013-09-10T23:41:39+00:00 Same issue for me, on both Windows 7 32 with Office 2003 Basic, and also on XP MCE with Word / Excel readers & 2007 converter (both computers running latest version of MSE). How fun. Not. I've hidden the updates, as I found that if I downloaded the actual KB's standalone installers and ran them, they all reported that they were already installed.

2013-09-10T23:22:10+00:00 Same here with KB2760411, KB2760588 and KB2760583 circular updates
Problem is they started cluttering the Windows Update history, since they have repeated entries in the log every time they get installed, does this warn about being installed multiple times?
Regards,
K.
Getting those same exact KB's here too.
Win 7 Home Premium with Service Pack 1 installed.
I get no warnings about multiple installations only repeated, neverending, attempts to redownload the same three updates.
I have a fully installed and up-to-date copy of Office 2007.

2013-09-10T23:15:27+00:00 Hello All, Yes I'm Getting the same Issues as Well, On Windows Vista 64 Ultimate, At First I Thought it was due to the fact that I use Tuneup Utilities and Have Disabled The Microsoft suite from running in the background unless I open one of the programs. However No this was not the Issue, and It seems that It is due to the Microsoft windows Update Detection, As I Also Tried Deleting the temp download file for these updates and not 2 min later they Popped up again. I also Thought My New Norton's 360 was the issue and Disabled it for a moment, and ran them again. and according to the update log they went in successfully. So As another Individual said just go to details of the update and Right click each one of the updates to hide them for the time being so they will not Bug you with the Pop-up. and Be sure to check back in a few day's I'm sure Microsoft will have a Fix. Thanks All
