Windows 8 continously loses wifi connection

Hi,

I am about to completely lose my wits with this. We all know Windows 8 is not user friendly by a long shot. In the beginneing I thought it was my brand new way too expensive Asus Zenbook that was the problem. I have this computer:

ASUS ZENBOOK U500VZ 15.6" WQHD+

GeForce GT650 2GB,Core i7-3632QM,8GB RAM,2x256GB SSD,Windows 8

It runs Windows 8.

Since I got it it has had a problem with dropping the wifi connection.

The steps taken to resolve it are:

Change settings in Power Plans

Changed adapter settings under "Power Management"

Run -> ipconfig /flushdns

All other laptops and iPads and iPhones running on the routers are fine. Problems persist on OTHER wifi networks as well, and from searching the web I can see this is a COMMON problem with Windows 8. HOW to fix this? Does Microsoft NOT realise it's customers would like to be able to use the internet without losing connectivity...

    I fixed this problem in an interesting way.

    No matter what I did to my Laptop's hardware settings, the connection kept dropping.

    Then, I checked into the wifi router settings, and changed the connection recycle times. 

    That worked as a charm. No issues since an year.

    Try that.

    Problem is resolved in my case after replacing an old airport express to airport extreme; i assume it must be some kind of compatibility issue? Or maybe there was just too much traffic for the old airport express to deal with (laptops, computers, smartphones, tablets,...)

    When I bought my Asus S550C a couple of years ago, I had the exact same issue of the WIFI connection dropping. 

    I was using the laptop for online webinars and interviewing client via video link. The internet connection problem made me look unprofessional. 

    First, I resorted to the wired connection for the serious online meetings. Then I bought an Asus USB Wireless dongle. The USB dongle worked well and the connection is stable, even showing a better signal quality as compared to the internal WIFI adapter. 

    Conclusion

    The problem is with the internal WIFI adapter. I blame ASUS for that, not Microsoft.

    I recently bought a new wireless router, basically a stronger (dual band) Apple device. The previous one was rather old and I was thinking it couldn't handle the traffic.

    Ever since installation, I have not more issues with loosing wifi-connection. I guess it must have been the hardware then...
