Windows 8 continously loses wifi connection

Hi,

I am about to completely lose my wits with this. We all know Windows 8 is not user friendly by a long shot. In the beginneing I thought it was my brand new way too expensive Asus Zenbook that was the problem. I have this computer:

ASUS ZENBOOK U500VZ 15.6" WQHD+

GeForce GT650 2GB,Core i7-3632QM,8GB RAM,2x256GB SSD,Windows 8

It runs Windows 8.

Since I got it it has had a problem with dropping the wifi connection.

The steps taken to resolve it are:

Change settings in Power Plans

Changed adapter settings under "Power Management"

Run -> ipconfig /flushdns

All other laptops and iPads and iPhones running on the routers are fine. Problems persist on OTHER wifi networks as well, and from searching the web I can see this is a COMMON problem with Windows 8. HOW to fix this? Does Microsoft NOT realise it's customers would like to be able to use the internet without losing connectivity...

    I also have this problem. The wifi drops when I go upstairs, this is on a Toshiba laptop that has Windows 8.1. The other laptop, an Acer with windows 7, does not lose its connection upstairs!

    Downstairs the wifi never drops, no matter how intense the network traffic. So I'm thinking maybe a Wifi repeater or amplifier upstairs could solve this problem ?

    Having the same goddam problem! Fix your **** MS! Here's a nifty suggestion. Since Windows 7 didn't have this problem - DON'T CHANGE IT.

    I have narrowed it down to the OS - not the hardware. To test this, I bought an identical laptop - yep - I shelled out an extra $1300 just to test this out. On my Win81 Portege - wifi cuts out intermittently - sometimes after 30 seconds of surfing - sometimes after 1 hour of surfing. No goddam apparent reason. Clicking Fix This button resets wifi adapter and all is well for another 30 minutes or so and then BOOM - Limited Connection. 

    On second Portege, I downgraded it to Win7. All hardware is IDENTICAL to the Win81 Portege. Guess what? No goddam wifi problems WHATSOEVER from the Win7 laptop.

    MS hired a bunch of losers who keeps trying to re-invent the wheel.

    hacky fix is to open cmd prompt and run

    ping -t 8.8.8.8

    after doing this my connection hasn't dropped at all.

    Hi all,

    I'm the one who started this thread. I just wanted to let you know what my solution to this ended up being:

    I went to Asia,

    AND I LEFT MY COMPUTER AT HOME!!

    I will make due with the iPad. Hardware or software, I'm getting a @!#%??*!! Mac next time!
