How can I disable or remove password startup on Windows 8? I have no need to password protect my PC and I would like to remove it.

Press the Windows + R keyboard shortcut.
Press the keyboard shortcut.
Then enter control userpasswords2 in Run dialog box and hit enter. uncheck the box named Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer
Apply button to see the Automatically Log On dialog box. Enter your password
and click ok.

Did you ever get it fixed - as I'm having the same problem.
I admire the advice and the clear, easy way it was given. But - just today my PC started asking me for my password at sign-in and when I went into Run I found that the box was NOT checked to require passwords - yet mine does. Any advice for me?
