So when I first got his on Christmas, my start page was full of apps, now I only have these 3: Internet Explorer, Store, and Desktop. What happened? There are apps in the apps section of my computer but none of them are the ones that were there the first day.

"But I now have the answer - I subscribed to Secunia PSI before the crash and I've just reinstalled it. That has given me a list of the 61 programs - sorry, Apps - that I had installed. So if you are subscribed to Secunia PSI that will help you to identify what you've lost. The same probably applies to FileHippo, if you had their Apps Manager installed."

Just out of curiosity,  if you had 61 programs installed and then couldn't remember what some of them were, how important could they be?

According to My Profile/Activities, there are over 1000 users still seeking an answer - I'm simply trying to help some of them. I'm not sure how your mildly-sarcastic question helps them.

I have 61 programs installed;  I don't use every one of them every day but that doesn't mean they're not important to me -  how could I possibly remember every one of them? I don't know what I don't know.

And what you're forgetting is that when such a problem happens, it's a major worry for those affected. You're an expert, an Insider - you get to test changes before they are inflicted on the Users. Perhaps you have never had such problems - if you did, you would know what to do, unlike many here.

This thread was started over five years ago yet Users are still having these problems. And there are many other such threads where hundreds are seeking help.

The problems in most cases appear to have been caused by a faulty Windows Update and more help should be given to those affected.
