the MTP USB Device driver doesn't install. I cannot connect external devices such as the Samsung Galaxy. I tried multiple uninstall and re-install, no solution

i tried many of the ways suggested in many forums, nothing worked. actually when i forst connected te Galaxy it worked for a few days, then it stopped. My company ha installed on my PC System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection; however it was there even when i was able to connect.  i tird also the ipad and i get the same error.

the solution offered to my previous request on the same issue by Rob Thomas596 strictly refers to Apple products and i can't use it for the Galaxy

Run command prompt as administrator and run the following command:

net localgroup Administrators local service /add

That is what fixed my problem after searching everywhere

    Good for you. I've tried any method I've seen on the internet, no luck at all. Now I have Galaxy S4. I've tried connecting my old Galaxy S3 - and curious, it worked! So something with settings on my new phone. Old phone was hard reset, so has clean configuration, on the new phone, however, I have no root, stock firmware, nothing really that should affect the operation. The only thing which differs - I've activated developer mode, but USB debugging was off anyway. 

    For me, MTP is a acronym for "Mega Pain", never worked well on either Windows or Linux. Before that S4 I have had Nexus 5 for a few months (I've got rid of it because of dramatically short battery life), and MTD was not working with it either. Same with S3 when I was using it as a main phone... 

    UPDATE: What helped me, after all, is it restart the phone itself.

    I had the problem with a Galaxy S 5 phone I just purchased. I couldn't update the MTP driver. I downloaded Kies, updated it, and reconnected my phone and it was able to pickup on the driver that Kies installed and its working now.

    The SOLUTION:

    Shutdown your computer, restart, then go into Kies, go to the tools section tab, locate the connection error wizard, run the wizard with your tablet NOT connected to your computer via the USB connection.  When you run the wizard it downloads the whole new software again, this could take several minutes so just wait.  Then restart you machine.  Your comp will try and download all 3 drivers again, this time all 3 new drivers will download correctly.  Following this turn both machines off again and restart, connect and you should be sorted.  Certainly with me this has worked
