How do I get my Google Calendar events to show in the Calendar app in Windows 8?

    Mr. News's solution works well for creating easy access to a google calendar, but does anyone know how to accept a calendar invitation received via the Windows 8 Mail App in a way that will place the event on a google calendar?

    i.e. I receive an email calendar invite in outlook.com, which I use for email, but I want the calendar entry to show up on my google calendar.  ("accepting" the invite places the event on the outlook.com calendar... which I don't use).

    Thanks for any advice.

    The option 2 suggested by Carissa worked perfectly for me.

    Now my outlook calendar on my desktop and the calendar on my Nokia 928 both display and synchronize all my calendars, including google.

    In my case, the need to edit calendars from other platforms, from every device, is not critical--being able to see the information is.

    You're welcome, glad it worked. Windows 8 is not as dire as some critics have painted it. Once you get familiar with it, there are many ways to customize, and tweak settings as we used to do in the XP era. I have also found 8 to be a bit more stable, and more resistant to attack (than XP anyway).  Still some annoyances, as there would be in any OS (including Mac)...
