I fixed it.
The problem is caused by Windows Store app accessing internet through IPv6 connection.
IPv6 can be disabled by unchecking IPv6 in your network adapter settings.
If the problem still exists, try changing the DNS servers.

Suddenly when I try to open the Windows 8 Store App instead of taking me to the store the green App loading screen flashes up and then it takes me to my start menu. I can hover my pointer over the upper left hand screen and see the app is there but when I switch to it I am get the flash of green app loading screen and then right back to my start menu.
I have found some similar issues on the forums but none of their fixes have worked for me.
This is a Windows 8 PC, not a tablet.

Hi James,
I understand that the Window Store app is not working.
1. Are all other start screen apps work correctly?
I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below to resolve the issue with Windows Store.
Method 1: Please change the resolution and check if that helps.
a. Press Windows + x, Click or tap Command Prompt (Administrator).
b. Go to command prompt, type desk.cpl.
c. Please change the resolution of the screen to 1366*768.
Method 2: Run the Modern User Interface App troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Tried all of the above but the problem is still there. The store just flashes for a second and then closes. Pathetic !!
Because of this ongoing issue I cannot upgrade to Windows 8.1. The day Windows 8 came out I installed the OS on new clean hardware. i7, 32GB RAM, 256GB SSD, etc., everything looked great, booted fast. I didn't try the Store because I thought I'd never use it. When I was done installing the Adobe Suite and about 70 various addons, Blender and 40 addons, 3D-Coat, Substance Designer, nDo2, dDo, TerreSculpt, UDK, Speedtree, Marmoset, iTunes, Libre Office, Ableton and 5GB of samples and instruments, and about 60 other major and minor apps and tools and then customizing all my paths and associations, I found out:
MICROSOFT STORE DOESN'T WORK!
Solution from MS, reinstall Windows. I was astonished, I'd spent too many hours installing on clean brand new hardware (all top of the line) - there was no legacy anything here, no old installs - nothing. I'd have to reinstall. I refused. I figured I'd wait for the next Windows major update and that would install over my faulty version and fix things.
But NO, I have to do the upgrade through the Store - the ONE I CANNOT CONNECT TO!!!!
Now other than that, my computer works for me, and I really do mean work. Everything but Microsoft's new stuff (like the STORE) runs perfectly, okay my Homegroup has never worked either.
Living in bummerland with Microsoft, you guys no longer truly rock.
I'm having the same problem. Just bought a Lenovo all in one computer from Staples. Got my programs installed. A few days later Windows does some updates and then it hangs on the user login screen. Did a system restore to get to the start screen and now no apps work. Nothing but the shortcuts to the desktop apps. The store crashes right after the green screen.
I never had a chance to even get to like Windows 8. You really blew it Microsoft!
Please fix this!
