It just has the store symbol and it does not even have the spinning thing in order to show that it is loading. I have tried restarting my laptop and opening it again but nothing seems to do it! Hello Maheeb,

Welcome to Microsoft community where you will get best solutions for Windows related issues.

I understand that you have hard time opening Microsoft Store in Windows 8. I would definitely help you in fixing this issue.

Let us start with couple of questions:

1.       Which account are you using to login, Microsoft or Local account?

2.       Do you have proxy server enabled on Windows 8?

3.       Is the issue specific with Windows Store or with other applications as well?

Perform the following troubleshooting methods to fix the Store issues:

Method 1:

I would suggest you to run Windows 8 App troubleshooter to diagnose and fix the issue.

You can download the app troubleshooter form this link “Windows 8 App Troubleshooter”.

Method 2:

If you are using Microsoft account, then I would suggest you to switch to Local account and then check how the apps work.

Follow these steps to switch from Microsoft to Local account.

a.       Press “Windows key +W”.

b.      Type “users” without quotes in the search box.

c.       Then select “Users” from the left panel.

d.      You will get an option “Switch to a Local account” right below your user account name.

e.      Select “Switch to a local account” option.

f.        Enter the required details.

g.       Then login to the local account then check how the apps work.

If you are using Local account, then I would suggest you to switch to Microsoft account and then check how the apps work.

Follow these steps to switch from Local account to Microsoft account:

a.       Press “Windows key +W”.

b.      Type “users” without quotes in the search box.

c.       Then select “Users” from the left panel.

d.      Select “Switch to Microsoft account” right below your user account name.

e.      Enter the required details.

f.        Restart the computer and then try to login using new Microsoft account.

Method 3:

If that doesn’t work, then I would suggest you to create a new user account and then check how the apps work with new user account.

Follow these steps:

a.       Press “Windows Key + W”.

b.      Type Users in the search box and select “Users” option from the left panel.

c.       Select “Add Users” under “Other users” option.

d.      Add the user profile details.

e.      Then login to the new user account and then check if this fixes the issue.

I hope this helps you to fix the Store issue. If the issue persists or you have any other issues with Windows, please do post it in Microsoft Community. We would be happy to help you.

this is what i did to correct the issue on my PC:

    • open your network and sharing center
    • click on your network connection *should say the name of your connection and what type* to open the connection properties
    • click diagnose

this should reset your network adapter and fix the issue

Have your read your own long story?

Fulle of technical terms, choices, , instructions, if's and but's.

All to explain how a user can make your own app to start up?

Ever heard the term 'user friendly'?

Make the bloody app do what it is supposed to do. If that means that we have to do special tasks, guide my true is while I start the app.

Please learn to do it right instead of teaching us how to operate an app. This is not a beta system.

And have the decency to answer your users via mail.

    Hi Kenni,

Thank you for the update on the issue and for the information which you have provided.

If you are not logged in with Microsoft account then first you need to create Microsoft account and then try to log in with Microsoft account and see if you are able to use the applications.

To use any Microsoft services, you need to create a Microsoft account—an email address and password that you use to sign in to all Microsoft sites and services, including Outlook.com, Xbox Live, OneDrive, and Office 365. You can also use a Microsoft account to sign in to your Windows Phone and to PCs running Windows 8.1 or Windows RT 8.1.

You may refer to the link provided below to create Microsoft account and see if it helps you to fix the issue.
