YMMV but...

...Microsoft is aware of an issue some customers are experiencing when installing KB2670838 on certain laptop systems with hybrid graphics. We are looking into the situation and are considering blocking the update for systems that could be affected. Customers who are experiencing issues on systems that already have installed the update should consider uninstalling KB2670838.

In the near future (one assumes), Microsoft should begin offering home users (only!) no-charge support for IE10 install and uninstall issues. You also may be eligible for the support if an IE10-related issue causes your computer to crash or if IE10 does
not let you browse all sites. For now, however, you're on your own so you're best bet is to hide IE10 (*and KB2670838 IMHO*) & stick with IE9 for the time being.

@aej3 & anyone else with a similar problem: To avoid confusion & duplication of effort, please begin your own, new thread in the appropriate forum. State your current IE version and full Windows version (i.e., Win7 32-bit SP1 or Win7 64-bit SP1) in your first post. Thank you.

    Hello PA Bear,

I installed KB2670838 and soon after lost aero + experience gaming issues (green highlights in BF3).  I am also not able to uninstall the update - simply getting an error without an error code when I try.

    1. Is there anything more I can do at this time?
    2. Is there an anticipated date for a fix?

    Thanks,

    aej3

I'd also like to add that this update KB2670838 causes serious in-game problems in Battlefield 3 on systems running both ATI and Nvidia graphics cards. Problems are not simply restricted to systems running "hybrid graphics". This is an update snafu epidemic.

    See this thread: http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/forum/threadview/2832654625456445145/

    and this thread: http://battlelog.medalofhonor.com/mohw/forum/threadview/2832654348322364814/

Please let us know when microsoft intends to release a proper fix, or at least orchestrate with the graphics card companies before releasing an update that would effect every graphics driver on the market.

Nvidia is suppose to have a fix for BF3 yellow roads next update.

This all started when I tried to play a 3d mp4- not only did not work anymore, but ultimately bogged down windows explorer to a point that folder icons started to disappear-system was boggy before doing that, but trying to open one of these 3d mp4 files set the following symptoms in motion: green progress bars at top of open windows moved very slowly- it really did a number on explorer's function (not internet explorer-windows explorer); firefox and other programs were very sluggish; only cure was formatting and reinstalling system image- trying to restore by backup in Windows was not enough; removing KB2670838 SOLVED all of this and I was very grateful to whoever gave me that clue. I tried everything- refreshing icon cache ;removing programs, virus scans, system/disk cleanups, defragmenting; restarting I don't know how many times. But this cured it all- system runs much better in general and I can now open my 3d mp4's in a blink!

Get rid of this upgrade-control panel->programs->view installed updates->highlight KB2670838 and get rid of it!!!.
