Installed this today, it caused my Poppeeper to be flagged with a -1000 error. Rolled computer back and problem cured. Have hidden update until i know what to do.

YMMV but...

...Microsoft is aware of an issue some customers are experiencing when installing KB2670838 on certain laptop systems with hybrid graphics. We are looking into the situation and are considering blocking the update for systems that could be affected. Customers who are experiencing issues on systems that already have installed the update should consider uninstalling KB2670838.

In the near future (one assumes), Microsoft should begin offering home users (only!) no-charge support for IE10 install and uninstall issues. You also may be eligible for the support if an IE10-related issue causes your computer to crash or if IE10 does
 not let you browse all sites. For now, however, you're on your own so you're best bet is to hide IE10 (*and KB2670838 IMHO*) & stick with IE9 for the time being.

    I'd also like to add that this update KB2670838 causes serious in-game problems in Battlefield 3 on systems running both ATI and Nvidia graphics cards. Problems are not simply restricted to systems running "hybrid graphics". This is an update snafu epidemic.

    WU does install KB2670838 anyway even if you had it unchecked, if you're installing IE10

    Kinda/sorta...

     

    KB2670838 is a Prerequisite Update for IE10. If it's not already installed & you choose to install IE10, it's installed as part of the IE10, er..., installation process.

     

    Ditto for KB2454826 when IE9 for Win7 was released a few years ago...and KB937287 when IE8 for Vista was released a few years before that!

    Yes that's true, and good memory on ya head.

    I was was trying to install IE10 on 7 without this problem'd KB2670838, but I guess I can't.

    You see when I had went to WU and saw that I could uncheck KB2670838 while still having IE10 checked to install, I naively thought I would just get IE10 omitting the KB... not.

    Anyway, I wonder when they will fix all the problems with KB2670838 ..I like IE10 and want to use it on 7.
