How to troubleshoot windows update error code 0x80070003 ran into a problem?

Nurifa,

Click Start (Press “Windows Key + Q” to open Charms Bar.)

Type: cmd

Right click on cmd in start menu and select 'Run as Administrator'

Type: net stop wuauserv

Hit Enter

Type: ren c:\windows\SoftwareDistribution softwaredistribution.old

Hit Enter

Type: net start wuauserv

Hit Enter

Type: exit

Hit Enter

Attempt to download updates

    same problem here, with all the clients we tryed to install (win7 sp1).

    With clean OS installed !!

    Windows update stucks with svchost.exe at 25% of cpu and 1,5 Gb of RAM. 

    Still waiting after 10 hours...

    tryed all the micorosft FIX-IT and procedures available on internet.

    I suppose the MS want us to install windows 10 :(

    I found a solution.  It works.  Manually install these two updates from Microsoft.

    Ken Morley of this forum has come up with the solution to this problem:

    The following procedure was successful for me and I repeated it again just to be sure:

    1. Download KB3083710 and KB3102810 in advance.
    2. Disconnect the computer from the Internet so Windows Update cannot automatically update itself to 7.6.7600.320.
    3. Perform a fresh reload from Recovery Media or Windows 7/64 with SP1 RTM.
    4. Manually install KB3083710 and restart - WU components will now be version 7.6.7601.19016 dated 9/25/2015.
    5. Manually install KB3102810 and restart - WU components will now be version 7.6.7601.19046 dated 10/20/2015.
    6. Restore the Internet connection and launch Windows Update as normal.
    7. After a few minutes, you should have plenty of updates to download and install.

    I am not sure that both steps 4 and 5 are required, but I didn't want to mess with success.  I hope this saves someone else some time and effort.
