I first discovered the behavior on my desktop monitor, but I had a really difficult time seeing the effect on my laptop. I was almost convinced it wasn't happening and I was looking pretty closely. You may need to use the magnifier to see it happening. Resolution, DPI settings and color calibration of the display will all contribute to the effect being easy to spot or not.
IE10 is a significant improvement over previous versions, but Chrome is certainly a great alternative, feature-wise. I don't blame you for switching.
