Poor font rendering in Windows 8 (blurry text)

Apparently there is a huge problem with **** font rendering in Windows 8. Text appears very blurry. Programs affected by the new rendering are: Internet Explorer 10, the modern interface (start screen), Office 2013 and other 3rd party applications that rely on this rendering technology. There is no way to fix this problem, unless Microsoft recognizes it.

    Just to reiterate what was already stated above, this is not just an IE problem. Seems like a lot of replies are focusing on IE. This a Windows 8 problem for PC's.

    So many clever things IE10 can do:

    and http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/Graphics/opentype/Default.html - give the alternatives a go. They look great to me (Dell E6410).

    But what about clear, legible plain text (like you get in Chrome, or IE9)?

    Interesting oddity:

    1. Open IE's Developer Tools from the menu or by pressing F12.
    2. Press CTRL-B or select the mouse pointer icon to select an element in the page.
    3. Notice that the font rendering corrects itself.
    4. Close Developer Tools.
    5. Notice that the font rendering reverts to ugly again.

    I got the blurred fonts in Chrome when I switched from Smaller 100 % to Larger 150 % fonts in the Control Panel. 

    The problem persisted irrespective of scaling [Ctrl+].

    It got much better when I switched back to Medium or Small again.

    I reported on my issue earlier in the thread. Quick update but I don't know if it will be helpful to everyone...

    As mentioned before I have an NVidia card. I went back to the NVidia Control Panel -> global settings and decided to simply "Restore" to default settings.

    The issue isn't gone, but it is enough improved that I can again read fonts on store apps and IE10. Previously the store (and store apps) were so bad it was completely unusable.

    I'll try to poke and see if I can narrow it down to a specific setting when I have time.
