"Your organization's policies are preventing us..."

"Your organization's policies are preventing us from completing this action for you. For more info, please contact your help desk."

Well, I AM my help desk as this is my personal laptop. I'm not sure what I did to have this get set up somewhere, the only things I've ever messed with were the OEM Background picture when logging on and to disable the autorun features to prevent installation of malware from infected usb drives that I interact with on campus frequently giving me enough time to scan them before activating them.

I tried going back into the registry and setting the policy for autorun to be unconfigured again as it was default and it didn't fix the problem.

I get that error message when using various MS Office products, 2010 and 2013, when trying to go to an external link in a document/program or when trying to hyperlink within a document (e.g. Table of Contents --> Page 23...) But I know it isn't specifically office, or at least I think.

Thoughts on what I can do?

Thank you Pradeep.  Fix method 1 worked for me (with Windows 10, MS Outlook 2013).  I can now set either Firefox or Chrome as the default browser, and the email hyperlink opens correctly, without the message "your organization's policies are preventing us..."  This worked on 2017/11/17.

This problem started for me after the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update 2017 was installed on my computer.

    Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.16299.19]

I tried several of the fixes in this and other message boards and none of them worked.

Several of the suggestions recommended registry changes.  I wondered if that was the cause of my problem and that the registry was broken somewhere else.

Finally, one of the things I tried fixed it.

    1. Start button; Default App Settings
    2. Whatever, the "Web browser" setting is, change it to some other browser.  Mine was Firefox and I changed it back to Microsoft Edge.
    3. The screen flashes a bit as the registry/setting is applied.
    4. At this point, I could click on a link and it would open in Microsoft Edge.
    5. Change the "Web browser" setting back to the original setting.  I changed mine back to Firefox.
    6. Again, the screen flashes a bit as the registry/setting is applied.
    7. Now, links in Outlook 2016 will work with Firefox again.

Hope that this helps someone else, it was a lot easier to deal with than the registry changes.

I want to thank everyone who replied to my "Your organization's policies are preventing us..." question but unfotunatley none of them worked, but after building and repairing computers since 1977 I finally said to myself " Your a dummy", and reset the system back 2 days and everything was fine and no more problem.

    Thank you all again
