How to provide feedback to microsoft?

I have tried a web search and could not find any clear mechanism. For example, the first 4 results I obtained for a "microsoft feedback" web search relate to:

* a page last updated in 2006

* the answers.microsoft.com site feedback page

*  a visual studio feedback client (presumably for developers)

* a webpage for an invite only windows feedback program

What I am after is an easy, web-based method to give feedback (like the apple site linked above).

If that does not exist, I can be more specific. Let's say there is something I dislike about Windows 8. How do I let Microsoft know about it?

I searched everywhere, it seems Microsoft doesn't have a official place for Window 8 feedback, which is a real pity, because Window 8 has the potential to become a really great product but it'd be hard without listening to the customers feedbacks.

That forum is for providing feedback related to this community site, not for providing feedback to Microsoft on their products and software.

I agree with you.  I tried searching and easily found your post.  The other feedback forms were related to providing feedback on the FAQ,  knowledge base and website. 

I would also like to provide feedback on their actual products.

I did a quick BING search for "Microsoft Feedback" and found dozens of Microsoft channels that accept feedback from customers.  Many are specific to the product they support (Office, Visual Studios, etc) so do the same search yourself and select the feedback channel that suits your needs best.
