"The program (VUDesktopToast.exe - System Error) can't start because mfc110u.dll is missing from your computer"

I have just upgraded win 8 from win 7 on my sony vaio laptop. However, now when I start, on the screen it says "The program (VUDesktopToast.exe - System Error) can't start because mfc110u.dll is missing from your computer. Try installing to fix this problem'. So, please let me know how can I fix it?

    Hi,

    My notebook is still working properly (purchased with Windows 7 and upgraded to Windows 8).

    I made my fix in Windows 8 (as my first post).

    But I agree with you: if anyone still having this problem despite all efforts to solve it, then it's best to uninstall VAIO Update, until Sony update their programs (softwares, drivers, etc.)

    Hi HF021,

    I visited the Vaio support page. There are no drivers specific for VUdesktop error.

    I have posted a query to the support team of Sony. I am waiting for the reply.

    All applications on my system are working fine except the error. If things don't work out then I will think about uninstalling the Vaio update application or I will upgrade to Windows 8 again.

    I recommend that you visit the VAIO support webpage and check if your model is supported for Windows 8. If it is, you will find the new drivers and other software to be updated. If it is not, don't worry, just uninstall any VAIO application that gives you errors.

    I have not had problems with any drivers for devices (camera, finger scanner, audio, etc.). I also upgraded from Windows 7.

    I recommend that you visit the VAIO support webpage and check if your model is supported for Windows 8.

    If is not supported by Sony, the best solution is the removal of the VAIO Update program. To do this go to Control Panel and Uninstall Vaio Update.

    Once Sony releases a Window 8 compatible version of VAIO Update for your model, you should download it and install it.

    This application is useless until Sony makes Windows 8 drivers and software available for your model.

    Hi MariaMedeiros,

    I tried installing the the mfc110u.dll file (though this file was already in the specific folder in my system, the file had a lightning symbol in yellow color).

    Now, after installing the file from the link which you provided, I get another error which says;

    "VUDesktopToast.exe - System Error

    The program can't start because MSVCR110.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem".

    Earlier it was mfc110u.dll.

    Kindly advice me on how to eliminate this error,
