Cannot change account to administrator!

Hi. I need to change my account to administrator so I can make changes to my internet accounts but my internet provider told me that I am just a standard user in Windows 8 and I need to change it to administrator. When I try to change my user profile from standard to administrator, Windows 8 won't let me, even though I am logged in under my Microsoft account. How can I change this? It's pretty frustrating!!

Hi

You cannot use a Standard (Local) account to change the account to Administrator. You can only use an existing Administrator account to do this.

Open Control Panel (Move the cursor to the lower/left corner of the screen and Right Click, select Control Panel on the menu.

In Control Panel, select User Accounts.

Select Manage another account.

This will show all of the user accounts on the computer. If there is an Administrator account it will show that designation.

Sign Out and log on with any Administrator Account.

Go back to Control Panel/User Accounts.

Select Manage another account and then select the Standard account you wish to change.

Select the Change Account Type option.

Select the Administrator option to change the account and click the Change Account Type button.

If there are no other Administrator Accounts, let us know and we can try another recovery method.

Let us know what you find.

    I tried every step, but as soon as I try to "Manage Another Account", the pop up comes up and asks for the password and to click on the "Yes" icon. The problem is that there is no place to insert a password in the pop up box, and there is also no "Yes" icon to press (it isn't even greyed out; it is completely non-existent).  Please help!  I need to install our new printer for our homeschool printing, which is extensive.  It won't allow me to change from "standard user" to "administrator".  About a month ago, one of our children were on the computer when they weren't supposed to be on it. They did something and I vaguely remember something about Administrator had come up. I don't know if I did something wrong or they did, but something went terribly wrong. Please, please help!

    Hi ,

    I have only one account type(administrator) in windows 10 PC. Some checking purpose i have changed account type administrator account type **to standard account type.**Again i am trying to change standard account type  to Administrator account type. But i can't change. Always I am getting pop up like this when i am doing these steps.

    Step1: I have clicked Change Account type

    Step2: Right click This PC --> Manage

    Step3: I have clicked command prompt(Admin)

    Step4:Tried windows power shell and command promt but access denied

     Please help me to solve this issue. Thanks in Advance :) (sorry for my grammatical mistakes)

    I tried to change Administrator account type with no success. I have another account but need to be the administrator to scan and to turn on user account control which will only let me do if I am the administrator. Now what please.

    Okay, then when I sign on as  administrator and attempt to open one of my ms OFFICE programs it errors out stating it is not a licensed copy with is BS.  How to do work around this nannyism?
