Is Itunes compatible with Windows 8

Hi everyone !

I am trying to find out if the current version of Apple Itunes is fully compatible with Windows 8 ?

I have done some research and I seem to be understanding that Apple has not updated its software to fit into the new system & there are some issues surfacing about compatibility. I am about to instal Windows 8 but I must have Itunes working perfectly with the new system as I am a devoted Apple supporter with Ipad, Ipod, Iphone etc. I know that Microsoft wants us to change to their own music system but like many people I will not change as I love my Apple products and Itunes.

Can anyone please give me some guidance. I am in Australia and Windows 8 has officially launched.

Thanks : Allan

    from itunes.com:

    Windows System Requirements

    • PC with a 1GHz Intel or AMD processor and 512MB of RAM
    • Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later, 32-bit editions of Windows Vista or Windows 7
    • 64-bit editions of Windows Vista or Windows 7 require the iTunes 64-bit installer
    • 250MB of available disk space
    • Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store

you can also try to use compatibility mode.

    right click itunes installer.

click run in compatibility mode windows 7.

if it has no issues, itunes will be installed for windows 8.

if it has issues, itunes installation will fail.

    Hello SNAKE,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Answers Community.

According the Windows 8 Compatibility centre, iTunes 9 is compatible with Windows 8. Result for iTunes 10 is not available.

I would suggest you to check with Apple support for more information.

It sort of is. I have the iPhone 5, when I connect my iPhone to y computer, my computer will recognize it, but will not sync to iTunes. But iTunes still works fine.

    Hi Dazed & Confused

Many thx for your comments. I hope things start working out better soon.

I am now convinced to not download Windows 8 until ITunes and MS get together and get this sorted out. I think the current situation between both companies is very poor given that us consumers who love both Microsoft and Itunes (Ipods, Ipads, etc) should continue to coexist together and provide good competition so that we can decide who we prefer to get our music/videos and related entertainment. It seems to me that Microsoft is trying to cut Apple out of the loop. If anyone from MS and Apple are reading this, guys PLEASE work together towards us consumers being able to use both companies as in Windows 7 which is simply brilliant with ITunes and visa versa. Thanks to MS Community for helping me out.

    Allan,

Good evening.  I hope this email finds you well.  On Friday, I purchased a new computer with Windows 8.  I too am an avid iTunes user.  Since the purchase, I have had countless problems accessing the internet and STAYING online when accessing itunes than I have ever experienced.

Since the purchase, I have been on the phone with support techs trying to figure out what the problem is.  I not only purchased a new computer, but had to re-install the router, got a new modem and countless other problems.

With the 10-15 calls to multiple support techs.....any may I say, with NO HELP from HP or Best Buy.....iTunes support has been the ONLY one willing to assist me.  Finally, today, it was learned, that at this time, iTunes does NOT support Windows 8, however, with that said.  I was informed, that an update is planned and expected within a couple of days.

Thanks to iTunes for the great support I have received.

Hope this helps.  Best of luck to you!

    Sincerely,

    Dazed & Confused!!!!
