Additional Details

I installed Windows Live Mail on 6 December 2011 and added a Google Mail account to it.  It was working fine until about a week ago when every time I went to check my mail it would give me the following message:

Windows Live Mail

Some errors occurred while processing the requested tasks.

Please review the list of errors below for more details.

1 of 2 tasks have completed successfully

I clicked on the Error tab in that window and there was nothing listed there.  I closed out of the windows and clicked on the button to check my mail again and no error message.  The next time I want to check my mail I get that error message and I close out of that window and check it again and it works with no issue.  It has been like this for about a week and it becoming annoying.

What is the issue and how do I fix it or are Google Mail accounts not compatible with this application.  I used the IMAP settings.

    If you mean News as in the Newsgroup section, then I don't have anything listed there since I don't use that part of Windows Live Mail.  I also wen to the Newsgroup section and when I pressed CTRL+5 nothing happened.

    @SouthernDixieCowgirl

    I've not seen this thread before; otherwise, I would have suggested the following solution weeks ago. I have also posted it many times in other threads and solved the problem for the enquirer.

    There is a bug in Windows Live Mail 2011 that causes the (first-named?) task of a scheduled send/receive to be marked as failed. The task is marked with a red 'X'in the send/receive progress window, but the errors pane of that window remains blank. This bug and its workaround were recorded by Peter.R in November 2010.

    This occurs if there is a news account being checked at the same time. The solution is:

    1. Switch to the News window (press Ctrl-5).
    2. Right-click on the account name in the folder pane and select Properties.
    3. On the General tab, deselect Include this account when checking for new messages.
    4. Repeat for all news accounts.
    5. Close down WLMail, wait a few minutes, relaunch and test.

    Noel

    @Mods

    Please check your buglists and ensure that this bug and its workaround are there, so that users like this one are not having to spend weeks wading through misguided and ineffective 'troubleshooting' exercises to solve a problem that can be dealt with in a couple of minutes.
