Had the same problem and DiaconuDaniel's solution worked for me as well - took a while to recreate the index but then everything was fine - Thanks

    Here is what worked for me since DiaconuDaniel's answer didn't change the CPU usage :

    Start > run "services.msc"

    Stop the service

    Start the service

    Enjoy

    I havent looked which files in particular caused the issue I was just happy that it solved for me after removing my NetBeans projects from the indexed folders. All of the projects were normal Java projects

    What types of projects are you using?  Most of my projects are java based and the only file types in there that might cause this problem are mf, properties, gitignore, and yml.  I'll test these as best I can.  Are you sure its not just the xml files causing the issue as there tends to be quite a few of them in netbeans project folders?
