Some of the recipients for this message are not valid

When creating an email to certain people in my address book I get a window pop up which says "The message could not be sent, Some of the recipients for this message are not valid. Please verify the names." I have verified the certain addresses and they are 100% correct, can you help? Thanks.

I want to say sorry to the Microsoft folks fro calling Windows Live Mail buggy.  Still I am not sure why there were two places not checked off on my brother's ID but the others were.  Those two little missing marks caused all this brouhaha.

The solution was left side button to get to Options - Safety Options - Security - Digital ID's - other people -  highlight the ID you want then hit Advance.  You will see many check marked items called Certificate Purposes.  All things there should be check marked. If not, then mark it.

That was my problem.  For some unknown reason two of those were unchecked.

I do hope this information can help other people who have a similar problem like I did,

    Had this happen today with a contact I had used for a long time.  Even corresponded a couple of times today, then all of a sudden could not email.  Message came could not send, due to some recipients having invalid email address.  Finally removed email address from my contact list & it was sent.  I put the correct email address back in contact list & same error message.  The email address is correct.  There's a bug in Windows Live Mail somewhere.

    Hi Julius,

    I do not use Hotmail, I use the Windows Live Mail app for my 3rd Party email.

    I have tried all using webmail and these work fine, I only find some email addresses in my address book within Windows Live Mail give this error message, I have tried deleting etc and it still does not work.

    If the people in your contacts/address book use digital IDs you would need to export their certificate and then import it into their contact entry (the ID tab for the contact).

    S/MIME certificates need to be re-established

    S/MIME (Secure/ Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) is a security standard for public key encryption and the signing of e‑mail with a digital ID or certificate. If you use the Secure Mail (certificates) feature of Windows Live Mail to send or receive mail, you'll need to re-establish your S/MIME certificate and the certificates of each of your contacts with whom you exchange secure e‑mail.

    You can set up your own S/MIME certificate by selecting the correct certificate in Windows Live Mail:

    1. In Windows Live Mail, click the Menu button on the toolbar, and then click Safety options.
    2. Click the Security tab.
    3. In the Secure Mail section, click Digital IDs.
    4. In the Certificates dialog box, select the certificate you use for your S/MIME e‑mail.

    You can set up the certificate for each of your contacts by adding the certificate to your contact list:

    1. In the main window of Windows Live Mail, select an e‑mail message you've received from that contact that includes a digital certificate.
    2. Click the certificate icon for that e‑mail.
    3. Click View certificates.
    4. Click Add to contacts.

    I would like to make some clarifications to fully diagnose your concern.

    > Please try to send email to the same recipients using Hotmail web base and determine if the problem also exist.

    > Please provide us sample of the recipients for investigations.

    > In the past, were you able to send successfully emails to the recipients?
