OK. It now works. Just restart your machine and let the download happen on it's own. the intelitype application will install with the latest drivers and settings application.

for my Windows 7 Pro 64 bit system now every time i reboot the computer windows automatically downloads and then installs the Microsoft intellitype pro software. First apun rebooting I get the small icon in the system tray that indicates that something is being installed i click on it i then get a message telling me [Driver software installation / Installing device driver software / Microsoft hardware USB keyboard] then after that i get another window that pops up this one says: [Downloading Microsoft Intellitype Pro / Driver installation complete. Downloading keyboard configuration software (Microsoft IntelliType Pro) after that a bubble appears in my system tray telling me that the device had been installed sucessfully.
Then life goes on ...... But i would like to know what happened so I can stop this, its very annoying
Some things I have done to try to fix the problem
1.) Uninstalled the microsoft intellitype pro 8.0 and the Microsoft intellipoint 8.0 software from add remove programs list... reboot ...problem still exists
- uninstalled devices from device manager... reboot... problem still exists
- moved both keyboard and bouse to different usb ports... reboot... problem still exists
I was hoping someone else had some more ideas :)

2011-02-23T01:02:20+00:00 Same Problem here. Mouse update worked fine. keyboard not so much. It seems like it's trying to download the software but can't find it, so it stays in a install loop.
Best solution I got so far is use System Restore to rollback before the update and wait for a new release to fix it.

I have uninstalled IntelliPoint 8.0 and IntelliType Pro 8.0 from programs and features and then used Windows Update to install the latest mouse and keyboard software and it installed IntelliPoint 8.01 but fails to install IntelliType Pro 8.01 and every time I rescan the hardware it keeps attempting to download and install IntelliType Pro 8.01. The IntelliPoint version is 8.01.249.0 but the IntelliType Pro software is missing. The HID driver version for both mouse and keyboard are 8.1.239.0. The driver installation complete and downloading keyboard configuration software only appears for a second but no IntelliType Pro installer appears. This issue repeats each time I log in or rescan hardware. I can't do a rollback. This is an emergency as there is no fix.

2011-02-22T23:36:23+00:00 Same problem here. Win 7 x64. Sidewinder x6 keyboard and Sidewinder X8 mouse. After installing those updates, both itype and ipoint are installing... something... on each boot-up. Apparently nothing gets downloaded and I get the baloon popup "Your device is ready to use". Also on each "scan for hardware changes" in device manager, same thing happens. Just installed SP1 and no fix!
Crappy drivers!!!
