OK. It now works. Just restart your machine and let the download happen on it's own. the intelitype application will install with the latest drivers and settings application.

for my Windows 7 Pro 64 bit system now every time i reboot the computer windows automatically downloads and then installs the Microsoft intellitype pro software. First apun rebooting I get the small icon in the system tray that indicates that something is being installed i click on it i then get a message telling me [Driver software installation / Installing device driver software / Microsoft hardware USB keyboard] then after that i get another window that pops up this one says: [Downloading Microsoft Intellitype Pro / Driver installation complete. Downloading keyboard configuration software (Microsoft IntelliType Pro) after that a bubble appears in my system tray telling me that the device had been installed sucessfully.
Then life goes on ...... But i would like to know what happened so I can stop this, its very annoying
Some things I have done to try to fix the problem
1.) Uninstalled the microsoft intellitype pro 8.0 and the Microsoft intellipoint 8.0 software from add remove programs list... reboot ...problem still exists
- uninstalled devices from device manager... reboot... problem still exists
- moved both keyboard and bouse to different usb ports... reboot... problem still exists
I was hoping someone else had some more ideas :)

2011-02-22T22:56:41+00:00 I need to bring to the attention of Microsoft forum support to see if they can fix the server where the IntelliType Pro installer is hosted. My setupapidev log file indicates that the digital signature of the installer could not be verified. Windows keeps retrying to download the IntelliType Pro software each time the download fails. When I look at the %temp% folder and then rescan hardware I noticed that it downloads about 10kb of ITPx64_1033.exe and then deletes itself.

2011-02-22T22:50:39+00:00 It's not the keyboard driver per-see. I tried manually removing the driver files somehow hoping to make Windows use the old driver. Of course it failed so badly that the keyboard stopped working altogether because it had no drivers at all, but that annoying dialog box still appeared. This leads me to believe it's more likely a routine that gets executed when Windows detects the type of component, before the actual driver gets installed.

2011-02-22T22:06:10+00:00 yah that was an old update that for some reason appeared in the windows update and there is no way to uninstall it like the other updates
even uninstalling all of the instances of any keyboard driver in the device manager with the set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1 command didn't solve the problem every time I run the scan for new hardware command it attempts to install that driver w/ intelitype pro.
there might be a way to do it by uninstalling and deleteing drivers that I am missing but there are always a ton of drivers in the device manager, I was hopeing that Win7 SP1 wouldn't look over this even though it happened a few days before SP1 was released.

2011-02-22T21:52:30+00:00 I am also experiencing the same issue with Windows 7 64-bit. I installed the USB keyboard driver update this morning and began experiencing this issue. I then installed Win 7 SP1. The problem persists.
I also tried uninstalling and then re-installing the driver with no success.
