for my Windows 7 Pro 64 bit system now every time i reboot the computer windows automatically downloads and then installs the Microsoft intellitype pro software. First apun rebooting I get the small icon in the system tray that indicates that something is being installed i click on it i then get a message telling me [Driver software installation / Installing device driver software / Microsoft hardware USB keyboard] then after that i get another window that pops up this one says: [Downloading Microsoft Intellitype Pro / Driver installation complete. Downloading keyboard configuration software (Microsoft IntelliType Pro) after that a bubble appears in my system tray telling me that the device had been installed sucessfully.

Then life goes on ...... But i would like to know what happened so I can stop this, its very annoying

Some things I have done to try to fix the problem

1.) Uninstalled the microsoft intellitype pro 8.0 and the Microsoft intellipoint 8.0 software from add remove programs list... reboot ...problem still exists

  1. uninstalled devices from device manager... reboot... problem still exists
  2. moved both keyboard and bouse to different usb ports... reboot... problem still exists

I was hoping someone else had some more ideas :)

THANK YOU!

PS I have Microsoft Digital Media Keyboard 3000 v1.0

Mouse drivers were installed & works just fine No Problems there!

OK. It now works. Just restart your machine and let the download happen on it's own. the intelitype application will install with the latest drivers and settings application.

Good luck.

Lets hear other's success.

Tom

to thoise that are now "fixed" have you gone into add/remove programs and looked to see what version of intellitype driver you have?

i am seeing 8.0.225.0 .........windows 7 professional 64bit pre sp1 when this happened. now sp1 is installed.

I became so frustrated with the problems in SP1 that I uninstalled it and went back to plain old Windows 7. The first thing that happened was the Intellitype message came up again, and it installed the new version 8.1.249 for Intellitype(even though it's not available from the download site).

Now, when I checked in add/remove programs, both Intellipoint and Intellitype are listed as "8.01.249.0".

If I hear of a resolution to the other issues with SP1, I will re-install.

    Good luck,

    Leighton

while when i go to ms hardware site for my keyboard it shows the driver i have as latest keyboard is WIRED digital media keyboard 3000 v1.0 and listed there as (8.0)

for mouse that came with it a cheap kit for a $4400 puget systems build ;)..... the mouse is wheel mouse optical which shows the same driver as what i have although the hardware site does show a newer one..... listed as (8.1) which is the newer one that ms update site was trying to give me.

neither are needed as no bug fixes just new hardware added to both.

this whole thing and having to rollback was a real pain as it also interfered with my windows backup procedure where i get all files and a system image.

i think the new keyboard drivers aren't needed for some older keyboards ( iahve both on USB and there is anote about using version 7.1 instead of 8.1 if connected by PS2 instead of USB......

long long time ago fred langa and others who had windows mailing lists always said don't get hardware drivers from windows update just because of this type of thing....oh i always listened until this one time. live and learn.

glad all that had the issue were able to deal with it and get it updated but searching out the drivers and i come up empty.

btw.... a sarch via google for intelitype drivers 8.1.239.0 or 249 come up empty except for one german site

Yup, I can confirm that mine is also working now.

When I logged in, the driver installation file popped up again, but this time it did actually download the driver properly and I got the red box to confirm I agree with the T&Cs of Microsoft Intellipoint.

My PC is once again the monster that I love so much. <3

Thanks Microsoft! Careful....your coolness rating is climbing. :p

Why is the keyboard software on Windows Update reverted back to the older version while the mouse software on Windows Update is the latest version?
