OK. It now works. Just restart your machine and let the download happen on it's own. the intelitype application will install with the latest drivers and settings application.

for my Windows 7 Pro 64 bit system now every time i reboot the computer windows automatically downloads and then installs the Microsoft intellitype pro software. First apun rebooting I get the small icon in the system tray that indicates that something is being installed i click on it i then get a message telling me [Driver software installation / Installing device driver software / Microsoft hardware USB keyboard] then after that i get another window that pops up this one says: [Downloading Microsoft Intellitype Pro / Driver installation complete. Downloading keyboard configuration software (Microsoft IntelliType Pro) after that a bubble appears in my system tray telling me that the device had been installed sucessfully.
Then life goes on ...... But i would like to know what happened so I can stop this, its very annoying
Some things I have done to try to fix the problem
1.) Uninstalled the microsoft intellitype pro 8.0 and the Microsoft intellipoint 8.0 software from add remove programs list... reboot ...problem still exists
- uninstalled devices from device manager... reboot... problem still exists
- moved both keyboard and bouse to different usb ports... reboot... problem still exists
I was hoping someone else had some more ideas :)

2011-02-23T09:35:05+00:00 I have the problem, too. OS is Win7 x64. Installing the Intellitype driver (which is older than the driver from windows update) manually doesn't solve the problem either.
It's very annoying, I hope a solution will be found!

2011-02-23T09:20:16+00:00 I need to bring to the attention of Microsoft forum support to see if they can fix the server where the IntelliType Pro installer is hosted. My setupapidev log file indicates that the digital signature of the installer could not be verified. Windows keeps retrying to download the IntelliType Pro software each time the download fails. When I look at the %temp% folder and then rescan hardware I noticed that it downloads about 10kb of ITPx64_1033.exe and then deletes itself.
the signature can't be verified because the file simply isn't there, it just downloads a 404 page and nothing gets installed you can nuke the broken downloader with pnputil to get around the annoying notifications and install good ol itype 8.0

The keyboard is detected as new hardware on every restart, and a dialogue pops up that says "driver installed, downloading keyboard software".
The same thing happens if I go into device manager and select scan for hardware changes.
I've tried to uninstall the Intellitype software, but it still pops up. I've tried to also roll back the drivers to the generic microsoft ones, but even with a rolled back driver and intellitype uninstalled, that hardware detection and intellitype pop-up still happens. Something probably isn't being uninstalled completely but i can't figure out what.
I've also tried to re-install intellitype with the latest installer from the MS Hardware website, which is the same as what I was running previously, and even with it re-installed the exact same thing still happens.
Furthermore, when I reinstall intellitype, my keyboard settings from before stayed there. Which further indicates that the driver or software wasn't completely removed so I wasn't able to start clean.
I've also checked the version numbers for the drivers, since there was also an update for MS Mouse on Windows Update, which didn't cause a similar problem with IntelliPoint.
Currently, the Mouse driver says version 8.1.239 whereas the Intellitype driver that I installed from the installer says 8.0.219. I'm guessing this is because the installer on the MS Hardware website is older than the one that was pushed out today by Windows Update. However, Windows Update is not picking up any updates and when I click update driver on the driver properties it says that I have the latest.
