OK. It now works. Just restart your machine and let the download happen on it's own. the intelitype application will install with the latest drivers and settings application.

I am having a problem now after installing two optional windows updates here.

for my Windows 7 Pro 64 bit system now every time i reboot the computer windows automatically downloads and then installs the Microsoft intellitype pro software. First apun rebooting I get the small icon in the system tray that indicates that something is being installed i click on it i then get a message telling me [Driver software installation / Installing device driver software / Microsoft hardware USB keyboard] then after that i get another window that pops up this one says: [Downloading Microsoft Intellitype Pro / Driver installation complete. Downloading keyboard configuration software (Microsoft IntelliType Pro) after that a bubble appears in my system tray telling me that the device had been installed sucessfully.
Then life goes on ...... But i would like to know what happened so I can stop this, its very annoying
Some things I have done to try to fix the problem
1.) Uninstalled the microsoft intellitype pro 8.0 and the Microsoft intellipoint 8.0 software from add remove programs list... reboot ...problem still exists
- uninstalled devices from device manager... reboot... problem still exists
- moved both keyboard and bouse to different usb ports... reboot... problem still exists
I was hoping someone else had some more ideas :)

2011-02-23T08:51:01+00:00 i have tried EVERYTHING. it seemed to happen after an update. i have acronis in my so i went back to yesterday and i still got it? weird. i have tried so hard that i am now done! i am going out today to buy a logitech keyboard

2011-02-23T08:43:58+00:00 Somehow, I was able to solve this. Not sure how, but I did it on my two affected machines.
I had a spare USB mouse and USB keyboard (non-microsoft). I plugged them in after loading the machine with the MS keyboard connected, removed the MS Keyboard from the USB, and used the non-MS USB mouse and keyboard to remove most of the Microsoft USB devices from my Device Manager. Then I rebooted once with all devices connected.
Again, the OS detected the USB keyboard from MS and started the process, but right when the downloading Intellitype Pro prompt came up, I pressed cancel on it. Then I disconnected the non-MS USB mouse and keyboard, and restarted again leaving the MS USB devices connected.
The reboot loaded the OS and the problem was gone. No more downloading of new intellitype pro.
Hopefully this somehow works for others until a better fix comes along. Sorry I didn't type it all out in an easier to read manner. It's late and I'm off to bed!

- If your Windows user account has a log-in password, you'll want to disable/delete it first.
- Go into System, Device Manager, Keyboard Device, Right click on Properties, Go to Driver, Click Uninstall (Advanced).
- Unplug your keyboard from the back of your computer.
- Reboot your computer.
- After Windows comes up, plug your keyboard back into your computer, and then reboot.
It worked for me.
I tried this with my Windows Home Premium 64 installation and Microsoft Comfort 5000 wireless drivers. No luck.
I even tried to remove the USB device Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Detection Driver(USB). Whatever that is!
I tried to uninstall and cancel on the download of the Intellitype Pro drivers it continues to try to grab. Frustrating.
Nothing worked.
