Error code 800B010A or 0x800B010A

I cannot update my windows with the automatic updates it alerts me of.  When i try to it gives me the error code 800B010A or sometimes 0x800B010A; what does this mean?  I tried to have windows fix it but it wouldn't work.  I noticed a lot of the updates it needs to do(9) have to do with security, which worries me if i am not protected with ms security updates.  I also cannot run windows defender and the icon in the bottom right showing my signal strenth for my wireless connection has all empty bars with a big red X going through it but for some reason i have no problem getting online.  i called one of those online geek squad people and before he charged me i told him what the problems were and he thinks it is a glitch in the windows 7 OS.  he didn't think it was a virus since i dont have any problems with my computer, i have virus protection and these are not common things a virus attacks.  he told me the only way to fix this would be to do a factory restore but i would lose everything and have to start over like my computer just came out of the box.  i dont mind doing this if it will help secure longevity on this computer as i just got it a little over a year ago but would prefer not to if i dont have to.  any ideas of why this is happening and how i can fix it???  thanks!

Trust me, we're not going anywhere and will be keeping an eye out for further developments.

If you create another User account as a Standard User and practice Safe Hex then you will not have to be so concerned with malware -

Report: 64% of all Microsoft vulnerabilities for 2009 mitigated by Least Privilege accounts

" Key summary points on the percentage of flaws mitigated:

    • 90% of Critical Windows 7 operating system vulnerabilities are mitigated by having users log in as standard users
    • 100% of Microsoft Office vulnerabilities reported in 2009
    • 94% of Internet Explorer and 100% of IE 8 vulnerabilities reported in 2009
    • 64% of all Microsoft vulnerabilities reported in 2009
    • 87% of vulnerabilities categorized as Remote Code Execution vulnerabilities are mitigated by removing administrator rights "

To create a Standard User account, log in with an User account that shows as Administrator in User Accounts.

I'll assume that your User account is showing as an Admin account so suggest you use that one.

Click the Start orb, in the Search all programs and files field type in user

Under Control Panel, click on User Accounts.

Click Add or remove  user accounts or Create a User account.

Set it to a Standard User, which it should already be set to by Default, and give it a name that is distinguishable from your Admin User Account.

Use the Standard User account for surfing the web and most day to day activity.

If you are going to install hard/software or make changes to the system, then switch to your Admin User account to do so, then switch back to the Standard User account.

Symantec, the vendor of Norton Security Suite for Comcast customers, has a Help page specifically for Comcast customers:

    http://us.norton.com/support/comcast.jsp?pvid=nsce_1&entsrc=Comcast

Under the Chat now button, click the All Contact Options link.

Suggest you click the Call Us link under Phone and have them fix the mess that their software created, steveyzerman19.
