I get the impression you may be a home user, so I explaIn this in very general terms.
Those two add-ins are small supplemental software that enables OLD hardware and many OLD unique custom-made software for websites and their features to work with other unique software. Years ago, creators of websites and features made their own unique software
for their own needs. The old Java versions 2.x with those plug-ins let them work together (i.e. interoperability). Today's versions 4.x and even 3.x already do the interoperability job, so you CAN DISABLE BOTH Java (tm) Plug in SSV Helper AND Java (tm) Plugin
2 SSV because they are obsolete for MOST purposes.
TO DISABLE THEM: Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools menu, Manage Add-ins, Toolbars and Extensions, under heading Oracle, select one of the plug-ins, the click the Disable button in lower right corner. For m, both disabled at same time, and I hav not had
problems since.
DISABLE BOTH IF:
- Your computer is for HOME use, NOT for a company-wide large network. OR
- You do not have a sesignated IT administrator who manages the operating system for all users, customizes security requirements, and/or designates user "rights" to do specific actions, because that person may have a restriction blocking you from disabling
those add-ins. OR
3. You have do not have OLD hardware. The best way to know this is to see if some functions(s) stops working correctly or completely after you disable both plug-ins. Just re-enable them to fix the problem.
SPECIAL NOTE: If you install a software or access a website needing java, the most current java version will install automatically or prompt you to install it. However, this method will probably show java in Control Panel/Programs instead
of in the add-ins, so it should not cause a problem for you.
I hope this clears up your questions and concersns.
