Hi i have an activated win7 pro version. It is running slow now days and i was thinking to reinstall it but the big problem is that I have lost the serial Key. any one know how i get it back from my pc? I am really stuck! Any help will be great.

Here are some utilities, all of which will display your product keys:

Belarc Advisor: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

(It does a good job of providing a wealth of information.)

Also: http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml

and: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html

Note: Also check the side of your PC case or bottom of the laptop for the

OEM key code. If there is a sticker with the code it will most likely not

match what is displayed by the utilities mentioned above as OEMs such as

Dell use an internal key code when they build your PC.

The key code on the sticker is for use with your Windows CD

(that hopefully came with your PC)

if you ever need to reinstall Windows.

    The key phrase here is 'access to' - it depends ont he licensing as to exactly what can and can't be done with it.

    MSDNAA is not free - someone has to pay for is.

    ALL MSDNAA Windows licenses are upgrades, so far as I am aware.

    Again - the reason that these Keys report as they do is deliberate, to prevent abuse.

    You have to request the Key from the relevant IT department, so that they can keep trakc of who is using what, where.

    His key is a legal key he never got any paperwork with it i know this because i am having the same issue. I attend ITT Tech and we have access to a load of software from Microsoft free of charge through the MSDN AA it is a program that Microsoft and the schools have created to get the students the software that they need to learn. we have access to anything from win 98 through server 2008 r2 enterprise and other office products and even windows ce environments all in all somewhere around 30 grand worth of software depending on your program. 

    but i too am experiencing the  same issue. however all of my keys are stored online and Microsoft reset the database 2 quarters ago and i forgot to write down my key... learned from that one.

    My key also returns as a MAK and is listed as bbbb-bbbbb-bbbb-bbbb-bbbbb this is obviously not correct.

    i am just trying to find a way to get the key. not a big deal for me as i have another key and we are allowed to install our keys on somewhere around 20 devices for VM's and such.

    but just thought i would chime in,

    There is only so much that software can do - it cannot judge the intention of the user. That's why the final 'court of justice' in activation is a body on the end of a phone line.
