Shift key to release caps lock

Earlier versions of Windows contained a switch that would allow pressing either shift key to release the caps lock key, creating an action similar to that of a typewriter. I have not been able to find this switch in Windows 7. Can someone help?

Here's the REAL answer, not someone talking down to you. Shame on LVTravel, and shame on Adam-Support Engineer , who marked LVTravel's post as an answer.

  • Go to Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Keyboards & Languages > Change Keyboard > Advanced Key Settings.

There you will find the setting to turn off Caps Lock with the SHIFT key, as it should be by default.

in any case, this thread is a few months old, i doubt the original poster will read this thread, so there's no need to reply anymore.

Sadly, cookie7746 can't read.  Ihermann wants to turn off Caps Lock by pressing Shift.  I guess he may have actually found Caps Lock is a toggle, but using Shift avoids those silly errors like "bUCKINHAM pALACE" which you are lucky if you never make.  We already have an answer from mr1900.

All I can say to this,is....WT!!!!!!!

Ihermann, have a goooood look...at your keyboard, go on?   Please, note the KEY (above the Left-hand side SHIFT Key) is.......this CAPS LOCK function you are talking about. I would suggest very strongly that you PRACTICE using it....to become very familiar with it's obvious function. Like PRESS once, it is ON....PRESS it again, it is OFF!
