Arc Touch Mouse Scroll stops working

Hi,

I'm using Win 7 (32 bit) with the MS arc Touch mouse software and drivers installed. Running on HP TX2 Touchsmart Tablet.

I'm facing a problem with my mouse with regards to the scroll function.

After "switching on" the mouse, there is a green led light and everything seems to work. The green LED then disappears, presumably to save battery.

However, after a short period of time, the scroll function will not work at all. There is no scroll "feedback" felt from the scroll strip either. But when I flatten the mouse and turn it back on again, everything works as per normal.

But after some time, the same problem resurfaces. Then, I have to turn the mouse off and back on again. Sometimes, the scroll function "turns" itself back on automatically. But most of the time, it just stops working altogether.

This is very irritating. It seems nobody else have encountered this issue.

Please help!!

    Hi Scott,

This thread is specifically for the Microsoft Arc Touch, Surface Edition mouse, not the Microsoft Arc Mouse or the Microsoft Arc Touch mouse. These are all different mice.

Your solution doesn't work for the mouse that we have, the Arc Touch, Surface Edition mouse. Based on multiple posts here, some of which link to YouTube videos or websites with photos, it seems that the Arc Touch, Surface Edition mouse has a hardware design and manufacturing flaw that cannot be corrected through software.

I intend to return mine--sadly, because I prefer its ergonomics and battery life to that of my Logitech t630 mouse. The Arc Touch, Surface Edition mouse isn't a usable product.

    Best,

    Steve

I have a surface pro and bought the arc mouse to go with it.  Had the same issues everyone else is describing.  What I found is that the Microsoft Store as the driver and settings app for the mouse, even though it will connect right out of the box, until you install that app, you'll have issues.  Mine seems to be perfect now that I have that app installed.

What worked for me was the post that said to push the middle scroll button on the top of the mouse.  When I pressed that button it turn the scroll back on.

I've found that if I power up my Bluetooth Arc Mouse BEFORE my machine, I can get odd behavior, including just having it not be recognized by the machine.  This might also apply to coming out of sleep.

Just now, my scroll was not working, so I powered down the mouse (by flattening) and then powered it back up.  All is working again.

Seem like a connection/sync issue between the driver on the machine and the firmware in the mouse.  In any case, I seem to have more success powering up the mouse last.

Maybe a similar issue for those on this thread?

as excited as I about buying this mouse, its slowly turning out to be the worst mouse i've ever bought.

the touchstrip scroll is pathetic, the feedback is weird, the scroll itself works intermittently and the form factor while does look "cool" leaves a lot wanting in actually usability. did i add how pricey this mouse was??

Hope springs eternal in the human breast.
