network icon says "no internet access" but i am connected

Hey guys,

so I'm having a bit of an issue. I'm running a fresh install of win7 for over a week without any problems. Yesterday, for no apparent reason (ie. no updates, no modifications, no new software install...really NOTHING) my network access icon on the bottom right taskbar has a yellow triangle over it and says i have "no internet access" even though i clearly have internet.

I probably wouldnt be worried too much if it was just a wrong icon, but the problem is, software that check for updates and checks to see if im online keeps saying im offline and can only work in offline mode.

This is causing a serious issue.

Any1 have any clues how to fix this?

I run Kasp Antivir 2010 and thats about it. No other wierd or free software...no extra firewalls nothing. I just dont get how it can just happen from 1 day to the other.

Oh and the whole win7 "Troubleshoot" didnt detect any problems.

Hi,

If the issue persists then, create a Windows user account and check if this issue occurs with the new user account.

    Hello,

    I am overjoyed to know that when I last logged onto the Internet, my WIFI icon status showed "no internet access" but it was a quick-fix when I went to my Device manager settings and updated the driver for the wireless network, and now it appears to be functioning as it should.

    Ps: If your network driver name is: Dell Wireless 1705 80211b/g/n (2.4GHz) I double-clicked the name and right-clicked on update driver and it fixed the issue.

    I had this problem using Windows 8.1.

    The network icon in the system tray showed a yellow triangle and "no internet access" when I hovered the mouse.  I could browse the Web fine but some other services reported problems, particularly OneDrive.

    What has (partially) solved the problem for me is to change the metric for my network adapter from automatic (the default and usually preferable setting) to a low number (I chose 1) and then change it back again.  I say "partially" because I think OneDrive is still having difficulty syncing but the yellow triangle and "no internet access" label are gone from my system tray network icon. 

    To change the adapter metric follow Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settingswhich will bring you to a window with a list or set of icons for all of your network adapters.  Right click on the adapter which should be providing you with your internet connection and choose Properties > Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)  > Properties > General > Advancedthen uncheck Automatic metric and type a low number in Interface metric.  Then back on out of there using OKs etc.  This fixed the problem for me.  I then undid the change because generally it is better to let the system set the metric.   That was just a matter of going back through all of those steps to recheck Automatic metric.

    I suspect that this forces the OS to do some sort of refresh or reset that fixes the problem.  Someone who really knows how Windows networking works can no doubt give you a better solution but this chook's entrails version worked for me.

    Paul try this solution from me :)

     

    run regedit

    and go to this key

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\NlaSvc\Parameters\Internet]

    then look at key named

    "EnableActiveProbing"

    look his value if is 0 make it 1 and reconnect the network

    I have the same problem like you and this solve my problem.
