network icon says "no internet access" but i am connected

Hey guys,

so I'm having a bit of an issue. I'm running a fresh install of win7 for over a week without any problems. Yesterday, for no apparent reason (ie. no updates, no modifications, no new software install...really NOTHING) my network access icon on the bottom right taskbar has a yellow triangle over it and says i have "no internet access" even though i clearly have internet.

I probably wouldnt be worried too much if it was just a wrong icon, but the problem is, software that check for updates and checks to see if im online keeps saying im offline and can only work in offline mode.

This is causing a serious issue.

Any1 have any clues how to fix this?

I run Kasp Antivir 2010 and thats about it. No other wierd or free software...no extra firewalls nothing. I just dont get how it can just happen from 1 day to the other.

Oh and the whole win7 "Troubleshoot" didnt detect any problems.

Hi,

If the issue persists then, create a Windows user account and check if this issue occurs with the new user account.

    1. Go to internet Options
    2. Connections
    3. Lan Settings
    4.  Select Use automatic configuration script, together with automatically detec settings.
    5. Type http://default gateway/wpad.dat
    6. This should fix the issue. 

    No Dice

    Still have another Dell Laptop giving me the same **** - The only thing that worked was this...

    1. Went to Dell Website and downloaded Ethernet Driver

    1. Uninstalled Ethernet Device and Driver from Device Manager.
    2. Reinstalled Ethernet Device with Download from Dell

    Problem went away, rebooted, problem came back

    Then I re-ran 1 through 3 for the Dell Wireless Device and Driver and so far problem has stayed away.

    Had the same issue, but mine was a little different:

    I run a few Virtual Machines on my setup, so my problem was that my physical PC was trying to connect to the internet via a virtual network card. it was getting access, but something screwy was making it think it wasn't. I disabled the virtual network card and *poof* problem gone (Its a temporary fix I know, but I do love me a band-aid)

       there is no files as "  EnableActiveProbing" inside internet . what will do??

    I have a case where it temporarily "solves" it, but the value gets reset after restarts.....I'm still looking for a permanent fix, however, this one does provide a way for license check-in when needed for the apps that depend on this flag.
