Green check marks on desktop icons

Suddenly all my desktop icons have green check marks on them.  What does it mean?  How do I fix them?

Hi,

Do you use norton 360? Norton -> Settings -> Backup Settings -> Backup Status Overlays -> OFF -> Apply.  After you run your next backup (you can do it manually) the check marks will disappear.

    FIX

    right click the deck top and then click view then click show desktop icons 

    then do it again to get icons back and green ticks should be gone it worked for me let me know if it works for you

    Thanks a ton man! I didn't know why they showed but oh well, they are gone now. Same thing though, folders and even java apps (.jar files) were not showing it. I was very confused but this helped me and now I can continue to do what I was doing and not worry one bit. :) Much love!! <3

    Sorry. I pressed helpful on the wrong one. I DO NOT have Norton because sorry, but its ****, I use a way better free anti-virus. Anyways this of course wasn't a solution for me since I do not have Norton, let alone Norton 360. :P Lmfao Disregard one vote whoever may see this.
