Click Start

Type: CMD, from the results, right click CMD

Click 'Run as Administrator'

At the Command Prompt, type: sfc/scannow

This will check for any integrity violations

Restart your system

  1. Insert the Windows 7 DVD
  2. Restart your computer
  3. When asked if you want to boot from your DVD drive, do so.
  4. Choose your language, click Next.
  5. Click 'Repair your computer'
  6. Select operating system you want to repair.

I have the same problem with my "windows installer" getting the same kind of error message when I try to load a copy of WinZip edition 19 I just purchased and downloaded.  The directions given here do not cover installing downloads that were preinstalled MS Windows 7 professional, was on my machine (Lenovo) when shipped to me.  The copy of discs I have from Lenovo most likely has an address Lenovo purchased with MS, and it would go online to get the copy when I need to re-do the C drive, which is what I am trying to avoid.  How can I get the "windows installer" put on without a disc for it?  Factory discs will not work according to the company spokesmen I called.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks- Jim

    1. type services.msc in windows and locate windows installer in it. if it is manual you have to change it to automatic. then start the service. it has helped me.
    2. also type cmd in search bar and run it as administrator.

    type "sfc /scannow" without quotes.

why are there so many disabled in the file?

There's supposed to be a space between sfc and  /scannow or it won't work.

    like this:  sfc /scannow

My W7-64 system is still not able to install DVD software from Corel. Any other DVD's work fine.

Here everytime I do this, a small window appears saying 'installation begins'

This window however cannot be enlarged, minimised etc.

The process does not continu, it freezes.

One can only end it by clicking this window away.

Can this have anything to to with Windows Installer, Install Shield or some ActiveX items?

In my registry there is not 'in progress' in \Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\InProgress

Also there is no 'pending file rename operations'

    in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations

I am hopelessly stuck not being able to install, re-install, de-install or update these official softwares.

    Please help.
