Click Start

Type: CMD, from the results, right click CMD

Click 'Run as Administrator'

At the Command Prompt, type: sfc/scannow

This will check for any integrity violations

Restart your system

  1. Insert the Windows 7 DVD
  2. Restart your computer
  3. When asked if you want to boot from your DVD drive, do so.
  4. Choose your language, click Next.
  5. Click 'Repair your computer'
  6. Select operating system you want to repair.

Try to open the Setup.exe file as Administrator. This worked with me.

    David

The Start orb is the circular button in the bottom left corner of the screen containing the Microsoft symbol on a blue background.

In the context in which it is written I would interpret clean as meaning remove.

You are removing any existing entries, which would otherwise be executed.  These entries may conflict with other entries in the registry so the system needs to start again without the impediment of partly executed instructions. Changes to the registry are made when files are not in use, namely when the computer is shut down and restarted. The need to do this arises because part of a transaction was completed when the computer was shut down but when the computer was restarted the transaction was not completed as intended.

    CAUTION

Modifying REGISTRY settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of REGISTRY settings can be solved. Modifications of these settings are at your own risk.

Short cut words.   Your said to go to Start "orb"   what is ORB.. I see a Start Box  but don't know what word ORB spells.

In the registry area,  what does "clean mean"  I'm I suppose to "delete" something, does Clean mean the same as delete?  I have looked when I do a right clean and I don't see the word "clean".

Hi I was not successful with installing the windows installer. After restarting my computer with the windows 7  disc in place, it did not ask me to reboot.

    What now?
