How to play FLAC file with Windows Media Player 12

Regardless that K-Lite now installs Media Player Classic by default and not Real Player, the thread starter asks: How to play FLAC with WMP 12, not MPC nor RP.

Installing Shark007 is actually simpler than K-lite to install. I've used both to compare them so time ago and unless you install Shark yourself, implying that it's complex to install is a bit unfair.  There is no "setting up", just install (will install default settings) and forget.  WMP is set as the default player.

I want my Windows Media Player to play my FLAC music files.

First of all, I run Vista and have WMP 11. Will these codecs work with v11 as well as 12?

Your saying that if I install the Shark007 free codec, my wmp will play my flac music files, and the install is easy and I will be able to easily recognize any attempt to install bloatware, toolbars, etc.?

I already have Media Player Classic installed on my PC, so Im not worried about that extra install, but I am worried about being able to stop, or un-tic any other crapware that Shark may try to install.

Thats a bummer because you made it seem so simple to make my flac files play on my wmp.

All I had to do was click on the link.  Now I dont know what to do.

Thx again for informing of something I did not know. I resolve to admit I am not as savvy as you when it comes to Codecs packs on a computer. I am learning, so I should bow out gracefully on this discussion.

I read the info provided at the page where you can download Shark007  and read the set it up and usage at: http://shark007.net/forum/Thread-Setup-and-usage. Due to my lack of understanding, it would take reading and going through the setup and usage a few times before I would fully grasp what it is telling me to do to get the results I seek for audio/video playback. So I admit that I am not as versed as you and would find it more difficult than what I have already done. Thanks for the pull up. I will leave this matter at this site for you to instruct an advise. It's been a slice having someone to converse with regarding codecs for windows media player & yes I have learned something that I will continue becoming more familiar with as it relates to software for audio/video reproduction on your computer.
