when I delete a file in windows explorer it still shows there - I have to switch to a different directory and back, then the file name of the deleted file disappears. How can windoes explorer be configured so that deleted files disappear there immediately?

Hello Everyone,

As TavisB said that this didn’t occur on his guest account before he reinstalled. That means that a corrupted profile can cause this issue, let’s try creating a new account to see if that solves the problem. If the new account works correctly, I’ll provide steps to transferring over your user files.

·         Click Start

·         Enter User Accounts into the search field

·         Press Enter on your keyboard

·         Click Manage another Account

·         Click Create a new account

·         Type the name of the user account

·         Click the account type (make it administrator if you are replacing an administrator account)

·         Click Create Account

·         Log off the current user

·         Log into the new user

Try to replicate the problems experienced by your original profile. If the problem doesn’t occur then you just have to switch your documents over to this profile.

·         Click Start

·         Click Documents

·         Click Tools (Press Alt if Tools isn’t visible)

·         Click Folder Options…

·         Click View

·         Click Show hidden files and folders

·         Clear Hide protected operating system files

·         Click OK

·         Navigate to this location C:\Users<old username>

·         Select all files and folders except the Ntuser.dat, Ntuser.dat.log, and Ntuser.ini files

·         Click Edit (Press Alt if not visible)

·         Click Copy

·         Locate the C:\Users<new username>

·         Click Edit (Press Alt is not visible)

·         Click Paste

·         Log off the new user

·         Log back into the new user

Hope that helps, look forward to hearing back from you.

I just wound back to yesterday's System Restore Point

(when I'd installed a Trust webcam driver)

    and that did the trick!!

So after a bit more research I came across more posts that kept mentioning problems with the "Libraries" directory.

I deleted files from normal folders (like C:/Users/myself/Documents/Music) and the files there disappear correctly.

The folders I most frequent are Videos and Music, which defaults to Library/Documents/Music or Library/Documents/Videos ..etc.. - those are the places where files do not disappear correctly.

I just did a workaround: create shortcut to the absolute path C:/Users/myself/Documents/Music or Videos, I just made sure that the path in explorer is pointing to C:/ and *not* Libraries.

Not a fix but it'll keep me sane for the time being.

That's my experience exactly.  I do have Office 2007 (removed and re-installed multiple times).  Part of the problem is that  regareding showing deleted files, it doesn't always do it, but once it starts it will continue.  After a re-boot it may or may not continue.  Very strange..............

It's April 5th 2012 and I can't find any solutions to this bug.

When does windows plan to release a patch to fix this annoying bug?

When I restore files from recycling bin, I see the file reappear immediately.

Why can't the file disappear the 1st time around just as quickly? This seems like an obvious error that needs correction. I don't have Office 07 or anything like that.
