This sounds like what i need, unfortunatey I am completing computer stupid! How do I download a new driver, where do i find a new driver, and frankly...what the heck is a driver?!?
I tried what you said.... right click on taskbar---->properties---->select Notification Area Tab----> but it would not let me select "volume"! Now what?!? Sorry, but I am very computer stupid!!!

1st Please Reboot so nothing is interferring with this process.
Right Click Taskbar - Properties - Notification Area tab - check Volume box - if it is grayed out
then use this link. (Same for Power, Clock, and Network.)

well I did do that and the volume in notification tab is greyed out, so how do I
click and apply ? ; (
