How do I add search filters?

When trying to search I click in the search field in my file explorer window. I see "Add a search filter" and a couple options below that "Date Modified" &  "Size" that I can select. How do I add more "clickable" search filters? I can only select those two filters. How do I add more to select?

Hello and thank you for your question.

In the explorer search window, you can click on those options you mentioned like “Date Modified” or “Size” to give you a list of even more refined options. For example, if you are in your music folder:

Without clearing the Search box, click Genre in the list of filters, and then click Jazz from the list of dynamic values. Windows Explorer adds Genre to the existing Length filter, allowing you to refine your search further.

    This amends the natural language to enable you to smart search. For example, after amending as instructions in the link I could click on the folder I wished to search then type "pic"  and automatically gave me option of "kind:=picture"

    and it searched for all pictures.

    Just noticed the date of this question and can see that you probably no longer need help. But hope it helps someone.

    Covoluted, but I open Windows Explorer to where I want to search, then pick the start button and hit F3 to get a search box with all the Search Filters to create my search, then copy the search box and paste it into the search box of Windows Explorer where I want to search.

    Works, but if anyone finds a way to get the Search Filters to display in Windows Explorer I'd love to find out how.

    How can I search all *.c and *.h files modified between 01/2/2010 and 01/20/2010 like what I do very often in WinXP?

    Hi,

    You can do ...

     

    (name *.c or name *.h) date modified 01/02/2010 .. 01/02/2011

    I dont know if this is the right place to post this or not but I am trying to search for file names that contain a string of characters and Windows 7 search cant find the files. For example, if the file name is DamagedCar01 i want to search on "car" and find that file. But it doesnt find it. If i rename the file to Damaged Car 01, it will find it but if hte name is all strung together (no spaces between each word) it does not find it. Is there any way Search  can find files if i specify only some of the characters within the file name?
