How do I add search filters?

When trying to search I click in the search field in my file explorer window. I see "Add a search filter" and a couple options below that "Date Modified" &  "Size" that I can select. How do I add more "clickable" search filters? I can only select those two filters. How do I add more to select?

Hello and thank you for your question.

In the explorer search window, you can click on those options you mentioned like “Date Modified” or “Size” to give you a list of even more refined options. For example, if you are in your music folder:

Without clearing the Search box, click Genre in the list of filters, and then click Jazz from the list of dynamic values. Windows Explorer adds Genre to the existing Length filter, allowing you to refine your search further.

    The only way i found after gathering data from many sites was actually simple:

    click inside the search box and write:

    "type:"

    "lenght:"

    "kind:"

    "name:"

    when you write "kind:" it will automatically give you the list of options such as: calendar, movies, pictures, music, documents: email: etc.

    Unfortunately, doesn't cover the majority of may custom search which tend to be time based.  If you find a way to do a more useful search than "A long time ago" which is a current option.

    doc-file should contain in filename „walk“:

    name:walk type:doc date:‎08.‎10.‎2011[or a right date format]

    wildcard-search:

    name:~=alk

    with content-search and indexing You can search within a part of a second hundreds of thousands of Your files

    I have the same problem as several other people.  I cannot find a way to do refined searches as we could do in XP and earlier versions.  Filters, as described by the Microsoft people are inadequate.

    I want to limit search by specific folder, date, filetype, etc.

    I suppose I'll have to use a 3rd party option.

    I've the same problem. When Ms Upgrade W7 to fit poeple needs?
