How do I add search filters?

When trying to search I click in the search field in my file explorer window. I see "Add a search filter" and a couple options below that "Date Modified" &  "Size" that I can select. How do I add more "clickable" search filters? I can only select those two filters. How do I add more to select?

Hello and thank you for your question.

In the explorer search window, you can click on those options you mentioned like “Date Modified” or “Size” to give you a list of even more refined options. For example, if you are in your music folder:

Without clearing the Search box, click Genre in the list of filters, and then click Jazz from the list of dynamic values. Windows Explorer adds Genre to the existing Length filter, allowing you to refine your search further.

    Your list of filters in incomplete. Eg. "contents:" is not mentioned.

    Where do i find a complete list of filters?

    I don't see how to find a file that contains "this phrase" here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/desktopsearch/technicalresources/advquery.mspx

    I used to use the XP "search dog" to find files that contain a word or two (not in the filename, but inside the file).

    But now I lost my dog.  And I can't find my file either.

    Seriously, MS has missed the mark on searching in this OS.  So now, depending if I conform to storing my files in MS's vision of where I should store my files, my search filters will be different.  I know your answer will be, add your location to that library.  Not sure, but I assume this will add indexing files to that library that will be stored on C drive, as often as Windows needs to be restored - this will be a nightmare to keep up with.  Wonder what would happen, if I added this location to more than one library...hmmmm.

    MS even took away the right-click on Network>>Search for Computers - now you have to double-click on Network, it will start to find all computers, etc on your network (this blows when you have 8,000+ computers on network, then in upper right hand corner, one can start to type the computer name. )

    I have read your Windows Advanced Search Query Syntax - WOW, MS has been trying to make all their products idiot-proof, while the searching has went the other way - you have to be a programmer to figure it out.

    Side Note: Notice the mouse movements to complete the same tasks in Win 7 vs. XP have increased - I guess Human Factors people didn't carry much weight - ever heard of carpal tunnel?

    The real question, Why has MS made it more difficult to search?  It's a single word answer - "cloud"

    You MS Support personal have a tough job - trying to defend a definite real set back.
