Ctrl c not working

I am perplexed. 500 people write in to say "Ctrl + c / Ctrl + v" doesn't work. MS offers zero help, and the people writing in say, "Thanks!". Thanks for what? What did you get but the run-around? Here is MS's formula: 1) Thank the person for writing 2) Dissect the obvious & simple problem ad absurdum (When was the date of the closest neap tide in Nova Scotia when this problem occurred? What was the blend of synthetic fibers in the socks you were wearing at the time?), & send the person back to collect data & surveys (designed to make them the reason for zero help: they did not provide enough information, so ticket closed). 3) Pretend help was actually dispensed, & thank the person 4) Tell the person any time they have a problem,to feel free to contact MS. I looked at a handful of the "Thanks" replies, & not in a single one did I read an actual solution. MS knows this problem exist when you Google it (I never use Bing, except to type in "google"), you'll see the same thing in 2011, 2007, 2009, etc. Here's a newsflash: They. Do. Not. Care. So why am I here? I haven't used this before, & actually thought there may be an actual solution here. The charade procedure here is typical of "help": Demoralize & dispirit. As I key this, it keeps fully highlighting (as if I did it) & as I key the next letter, it replaces everything I typed. I use Ctrl + Z which actually still does work. Anyway, I want to congratulate MS on the size & scale of the charade of help. If you think I'm exaggerating, then tell ME why suddenly, w/ no changes by me (I make it a pt. never to tweak a computer so my junkware, flubware, & trashware is the same thing everyone else has & I cannot be blamed), my "Ctrl + c" / "Ctrl + v" no longer works. I've re-started the computer twice & that has not helped. PS: In anticipation of your first question, MS, I do not know the arrival date of the first Ridley's sea turtles to their breeding island of Santa Maria Island in the Caribbean.

I think I figured out how to fix the WORD shortcuts CTRL+C and CTRL+V so they work again.

My Word CTRL+C and CTRL+V suddenly stopped working after they were working just fine.

I finally discovered that the reason they no longer worked was because the shortcuts for COPY and PASTE on my word were suddenly changed (have no idea why) to CTRL+INSERT for COPY and SHIFT+INSERT for PASTE.

Here's where I found the shortcuts and how i changed them:

Go to Word -->OPTIONS --> CUSTOMIZE RIBBON --> at the bottom the screen find "Keyboard shortcuts" and click on the "Customize" button -->

Under category choose "Home Tab"

Under Commands choose "    EditCut"

Check what is showing in the window that says "Current Keys". If it says anything other than CTRL +C or nothing at all that must be the reason why CTRL +C is not working for you!

update  by standing in the window under "Press New Shortcut Key" and holding CTRL+C as you normally would copy.

Click on "assign" at the bottom of the screen. The shortcut will be added to "Current Keys".

At this point you may also want to remove the silly shortcut you had there before (in my case CTRL+INSERT).

Do the same for Command EditPaste.

while you're at it, you may want to change some other wierd shortcuts you may find... ;-).

when done click on close --> OK

and give it a try. it worked for me :-).
