About a while ago I ran chkdsk to check and recover bad sectors and fix system files and it then froze at 43% on stage 5 of 5. I left it on through out the night and I went to school and came back it was still at 43%. I then manually shut down the computer and ever since I have been trying to fix the problem. It was the second time I ran chkdsk on this pc while having windows 7 I usually run chkdsk every month or so to make sure everything is functioning right. After my problem occured I have tried so many things i have ran spinrite,I have reinstalled windows, I have tried to run chkdsk on safe mode, I have tried sfc/scannow, and chkdsk /p and all of these things did not fix the problem. Chkdsk /p was the only thing that didnt even try to fix anything because it said invalid parameter. Also when I reinstalled windows 7 on my pc then chkdksk froze at 49% on stage 5 of 5. I even ran diagnostics from the bios and I use Seagate Seatools and both diagnostics said my hard drive was perfectly fine. I also tried running chkdsk from the windows 7 cd and for some reason it completed in less than 2 hours. I then ran chkdsk from the pc and it then froze again this made me think that there had to be something wrong with my pc. So I was wondering how can I get chkdsk to complete perfectly from my pc again instead of using the windows 7 cd each time.

Wow you have talked to Steve Gibson that is so cool...anyways the retail version of windows 7 is a full product.
In disk management my partitions look like this.
(C:) Backup Disk
101 MB 288.19 GB NTFS 9.80 NTFS
(Unallocated) Healthy (System, boot, Page file, Active, Crash Dump, Primary Partition) Healthy (Primary Partition)
Thats the problem, you have bad sectors. I'm surprise the drive manufacture's test software didn't pick up the bad sectors.
What I'm hoping is that by doing full format of the hard drive the bad sectors will be remapped.
Haven't used Steve Gibson's Spinrite in many years, last time I talked to him was too long ago to remember.
The reatail version of Windows 7, is it an upgrade or the full product?
In 'Disk Mangement' do your partitions look like this"
100MB (System partition), 300GB Windows (Primary partition), 9.8GB primary partition.

I got a Windows 7 retail product. By reinstalling what do you exactly mean like an install without my files or what? Also isnt there a way to fix the files without Check Disk. I am a little confused of me having corrupted files because when I run check disk to automatically fix system files it works fine its only when I fix system files and recover and fix bad sectors its when the problem occurs. Do you think I should run SpinRite to try and fix my files at Level 5?
What version of Windows 7 did you use (Home Prem., Pro or Ultimate) to do the install?
If it was an upgrade was it from XP or Vista?
Would you be willing to take another shot at re-installing Windows 7 as I think your backup may also contain the corrupted files?
