About a while ago I ran chkdsk to check and recover bad sectors and fix system files and it then froze at 43% on stage 5 of 5. I left it on through out the night and I went to school and came back it was still at 43%. I then manually shut down the computer and ever since I have been trying to fix the problem. It was the second time I ran chkdsk on this pc while having windows 7 I usually run chkdsk every month or so to make sure everything is functioning right. After my problem occured I have tried so many things i have ran spinrite,I have reinstalled windows, I have tried to run chkdsk on safe mode, I have tried sfc/scannow, and chkdsk /p and all of these things did not fix the problem. Chkdsk /p was the only thing that didnt even try to fix anything because it said invalid parameter. Also when I reinstalled windows 7 on my pc then chkdksk froze at 49% on stage 5 of 5. I even ran diagnostics from the bios and I use Seagate Seatools and both diagnostics said my hard drive was perfectly fine. I also tried running chkdsk from the windows 7 cd and for some reason it completed in less than 2 hours. I then ran chkdsk from the pc and it then froze again this made me think that there had to be something wrong with my pc. So I was wondering how can I get chkdsk to complete perfectly from my pc again instead of using the windows 7 cd each time.

Also....can I just make a backup with Windows 7 of my files? Do I have to make an image of my of those 2 partitions because if i were to make an image it would go up 26..GB and thats a lot of dvds to use?
I am sorrying for my whining but I think there are more available options.

The drive letters for the partitions are:
(none) C: H: (none) D: Backup Disk
100 MB 118.42 GB NTFS 40.00 GB RAW 129.76 9.80 GB NTFS
Free Space
Also I have to do a backup on a dvd the USB is appearantly not big enough. The good thing is that I have blank dvds
Backup the partitions marked in Bold face type:
System Resrved (F) (C:) Windows test (G:) Backup Disk (D:)
100 MB 118.43 GB NTFS 40.00 GB NTFS 126.76 GB 9.80 GB
Healthy (Primary Partition) Healthy (....) Healthy (Logical Drive) Free Space Healthy (Primary Partition)
Make a note of the partition drive letters on paper (this is a must do). If the drive letters shown above are incorrect please provide me the correct letters.
Also note that the image backup can not be stored on either the "Test" partition or the area marked as free space. So indicate where you are going to store the image file.

I will after I go thru and verify and document the process. The is not going to be a 1, 2, 3 type of operation.

So I will not be posting back today as I expect it will take me most of the Afternoon and then some to verify it works.
But what you can do is to download "Acronis True Image Home 2010" trial version. Install and create a backup (to an external USB drive if possible, if not let me know where your going to store the image backup file) of the partitions marked below. Also create "Rescue CD" and then boot from it and verify it can locate the image backup you created (no need to run a restore at this point just check that the boot CD can find the Image file.

I tried to reach Symantec about abtaining a Ghost 15 recovery .ISO file need to create a Recovery CD (as I like Ghost 15 better than Acronis) but unfortunatly their trial version does not allow you to create a Rescue/Recovery CD which means the trial version is of no value for our purposes.
