Keep Num Lock on after start-up

Listen up! I have been told about this setting multiple times. I conferred with THREE computer technicians. THIS SOLUTION FAILED FOR ALL FOUR OF US IN MULTIPLE TESTS! Quit spreading this nonsense and admit that you do not know how to fix this problem because it is based on a stupid decision.

Once you download the program version you desire create a shortcut to it and place the shortcut in the hidden startup folder:

Hidden Start Menu for All Users:          ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

Hidden Start Menu for a Single User:   Users<Name of the User>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

There is one problem with these two programs: They are unable to start-up 'Mouse Keys'. I posted a request in the 'Performance' Forum requesting how to do this, but as is so often the case in these forums none of you 'Most Valued Programmers' respond to questions concerning the internal workings of Windows 7.

Don't hold your breath: Vista has the same problem! In addition since this posting has been marked as having been answered Microsoft is going to IGNORE it. I have started new threads on this topic but someone keeps on marking them as having been solved. Of course I have complained about Microsoft marking problems as having been solved when this is not the case -- as have others -- but Microsoft marks those complaints as having been solved as well. Do you HONESTLY believe that Microsoft is going to read postings which have been marked as having been resolved? Consider the following points:

1. The Vista forum has complaints about Num Lock
2. When I posted this problem on the Vista forum and stated that Windows 7 had the same problem I was told that I may NOT discuss Windows 7 on the Windows Vista forum
3. My posting was REMOVED from the Vista forum

What is the likelihood of Microsoft fixing this problem? I say it is no more than 0 %.

The ONLY option you have is to set the registry value as I have discribed on 5 March above with one of the values I listed on 7 March. Microsoft is not going to solve this problem.

Consider this: Outlook 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003 ALL have the same certain bug. Why was it fixed in Outlook 2004 but NEVER fixed in the preceding versions? Why did they propogate the exact same bug through FOUR CONSECUTIVE versions of the software?

I also tried all of the fixes.  I did finally get numlock to stay on.  I do not know exactly what finally worked.I worked with the registry key as per the JPEG and that did not work.

1.  I made sure numlock was on in bios (it was). 

2.  I booted and at the point where numlock went off, before the boot screen appeared and I pushed the numlock key one time to turn it back on.

3. Numlock turned off again during the boot screen displaying.  Again I pushed the numlock key once and made sure it was on when the login screen displayed.

I went through this reboot sequence twice more making sure numlock was on when the login screen displayed.  Previoulsy, anytime I returned to the login screen, numlock went off.  It did not matter if I went via Start> Shutdown or Ctrl-Alt-Delete; numlock would go off.  Now when I go to the login screen, numlock remains on and has done so through two of three reboots.  For some reason it went off on my second reboot.

I consider this a bug in Windows Seven Ultimate and I hop MS will address it.
